could someone post a pic of their screen showing one of Capt. Paul's 'markings' or waypoints? I just want to get an idea of what this will look like. I cannot find a sample anywhere on Capt. Paul's site or on La. Sportsman. Tks

tks, Oh well, seems like the plaquemines council still can't figure this out. Believe they were hoping this may be a windfall for the parish when in reality they are just losing hunters. I always suspected a major driving force behind this is the well known guide/outfitter down there who wanted to obtain a sweetheart deal on leasing some of the parish/school board land out from under the public. It is my understanding from speaking to some of the locals down there that this particular guide worked with his good buddy on the council to get the council votes which ok'd leasing the land to him and keeping it all very quiet from the public so no parties could mount an opposition campaign with the council. So, 1) he gets his sweet lease deal of parish property, and 2) he pushes for the council to set this permit process as another way to keep hunters off the areas near his sweet lease. Got to hand it to him, he played masterful, in true Louisiana 'ol politics fashion. Hoodwinked the public before anybody knew what hit them. Maybe there will be some plaquemines council members who will grow a spine and overturn this mess before the season.

No, they will not issue a map. The map the parish has and which you can “view” has a flaw- the map does not disclose which areas are currently leased to the guide (and others) in those areas. The map merely shows all land the parish owns. Does not show if leased or not. Even if leased the parish still owns the land. Not too helpful.
Side note: I understand there are “issues” with those leased areas. As some of you know we’ve recently seen those posted signs by a local guide. There are concerns about how these leases were issued and negotiated by the parish. Have heard from close sources that these concerns have been discussed behind closed doors by the parish leaders. The obvious concern is how this person got the land leased when nobody else was aware of the availability, wasn’t put out for public review and/or public bid. This will be a royal mess before we’re done.

update- Watch out for 2nd split. Heard from Sheriff's office deputies that orders are out to strictly enforce the new 'permit' requirements. They said they were lenient for 1st split but can't do that for 2nd.

any new updates? who do we get info from on the permits? Any info on the guide service who is posting up all over the school board property? Who is in charge of leasing him the school board prop? which board member or councilman worked that deal out with him? and why did he get to lease it? For past 25 yrs it was understood that school board prop was for public use. Maybe this was never true all those years....

ZinZin & Dixon bay off of southwest pass had a few. Looks like what few birds there are- are in the lower miss area like Pass-a-loutre, southwest pass areas.
