Just putting this picture out there for anyone it can help, I printed it out to keep with me while duck hunting. We have been having a lot of black or mottle duck in our area and were having a hard time telling which were which, and you can only have one of each. now telling them apart in the air is a different story.

The other day my father and I were fishing in the middle of the lake and we saw something pop up look at us and then go back down lol, kinda looked like an otter, but never seen it again and would be weird to see an otter in the middle of the lake. it was kinda weird the way it just came up and went straight back down. my buddy swears he seen something similar in catfish lake lol. just wondering if anyone else seen something like this before.

Anybody know how much the fine is for no running lights?, my lights crapped out on me halfway to my blind this morning so i proceeded with my spot light and a flashlight. didnt make it, ran into ldwf and was ticketed.

Made an early trip to casse-tete island out of leeville sat., being the only boat out there. We fished hard for 10 nice trout tho, and 4 reds easily caught. you can catch reds pretty easy beating the banks with limetreuse tightlined, but they are all over 27 inches not leaving many for the ice chest. we lucked out and had one at 23 inches giving us our 4 keepers at 3 people. we released a few for fun, and then giving up and returning to little lake near leeville, catching another 8 nice trout. ended the morning with 18 trout and 4 big reds. Had a great day on the water with friends.

Hey just wondering what you guys think about, and if anybody would be interested in renting fishing boats in the golden meadow leeville area. I am putting 2 flat boats together as we speak one 14x48 with a 2002 25hp and one 14x42 with a 2003 15hp should have them ready soon and would be located at gaspard collision center in golden meadow. prices would be 150 a day for the 15 hp tiller and 175 a day for the 25hp steering. Both are equiped with trolling motors, and would be tanked off with 6 gallons of gas. if things work out i will try to put together a few more. Thanks for any input.

I recently put my name on the list to try to get in to the dularge hunting club, and was wondering how the duck hunting is in that area. I would like some comments good or bad about your experience as a member or x member. Any info would be appreciated.

November 16, 2010 at 8:48pm

Think i may have killed over my limit this morning. Anyone know what the limit is on mosqitos and gnats, just could not help myself. Lol. slow day in golden meadow, only bagging 2 greys. saw a few birds flying, hope it gets better for us.

November 13, 2010 at 8:51pm

took a trip out to the lease behind golden meadow this afternoon and geeee wiz the tide was low. not enough water to float my flat boat. lucky i had a gator tail or my lease would have been unaccessible today. noticed today about 30 old crab traps from the storm, just waiting for my prop, did not have time to fish them out today but will have to do soon before the tide comes back up. saw four greys, thats it. hope the tide is not that low on opening, and hope some more ducks come down.

Need help? I recently put iron mountain heads, bigger single mikuni carb, and bps stainless performance exhuast, on my 35 gator tail surface drive. I picked up 400 more rpm and 3 mph on top end speed, but my take offs are horrible. I actually found it to have less power on the take off now. It idles perfect and starts and runs great, as normal. It doesnt blow any smoke, and the muffler outlet didnt have any soot buld up. I did notice a couple drops of gas fall from the over flow tube on the carb. does anyone else have this problem and can it be fixed are adjusted. Thanks for any info.

LOL Has your tempers and stress levels been high with all the fishing closures. Well here is my solution. I was thinking of starting a non profit organazation called I do what i want organazation. here is how it works, we fish where we want, we keep fish if we want, we eat fish if we want, whenever we want. If you get harassed by ldwf, they get a $500.00 fine. If the feds mess with you they get a $2000.00 fine. and these are first offence. all fine proceeds go to presserving our rights to do what we want, in a FREE country. Its free to join and you dont have any meetings to attend. 'WHO'S IN' LOL LOL LOL

Well its official, our area for fishing fourchon leeville and golden meadow are being shut down. I dont think people realize the severity of this oil in our marshes yet. It could be years before we could fish again if it survives. I had reports of oil spotted as far as grey duck bay and some marshes just north of catfish lake. The marsh is so eaten up that the current will just take it everywhere fast. I live for god, family, and to FISH, which doesn't look like we will be doing much of in our area soon. Kinda makes me sick. I am also worried about the economy, being a buisness owner. It will effect everyone. I am just hoping and praying they could stop the leak and have a quick recovery. I am also dissapointed in the government for not assisting bp with the stop of the oil leak. no doubt the us has eqipment that could help bp with the deep sea leak. It almost seems like they dont care like as if they want it to happen so that they dont have to assist the fisherman when storms come thru. You never know.

Ok guys i was kicked out agin this saturday. We have a camp near elmers island and we fish a small lake called bay pariac. heres the situation, there is only two bayous leading to the lake. one is state owned and one private. the lake is also state owned i checked on the states website. well the state owned bayou wich is called bayou thunder is clogged with sand from storms, and unpassable, so we have been passing through the private owned bayou. well the owner saw us and said we could no longer pass. well i lost it and told this guy off, telling him he had to give us the right of way. so he retaliated saying he would put up a fence. then i retaliated and said i would tear down his fences. The thing is, is that i dont know if i have the right to pass through to get where i am going and if i do than what do i do if he puts a fence, i dont want to get fined for destruction of property. what do you guys think.

April 12, 2010 at 12:23am

Made a trip to lake boeuf sat. morning in search of a few sacalait and didnt do to well only catching 3 from 7 am to about 11. but one thing they did have alot of is plenty of ducks all over the lake. thats why i think we need a later season, these ducks were in various flocks, not pairs or pairing. and any way the limit is 6 so what would be the difference. If i would have been hunting sat. i would have killed my limit wich i have not done this year. anyway just my thought on that. god bless.

March 21, 2010 at 8:55pm

well hunting season is finish and its back to fishing some of my favorite spots in bay gasoline. gonna see if old wyatt Earp is gonna kick me out. Wont let him catch me this time stick and move stick and move if the trout bite is on i will have a nice mess by the end of the morning. that old put put he has will catch a hard time saturday. oh cant forget the duck tape to cover my numbers, LOL. hope the tide is not to low, its been plenty low in bayou lafourch the last couple of days. well atleast i might get to see wyatt (stain) earp.

Has anyone ever had thier radio come on by it self in thier boat? I did lol. here is my story. about a year ago i bought one of those marine radio and speaker combo from walmart for like $175. well it worked great until one night obout 4 months after i bought it i was awakened by my doorbell at 2:00 in the morning by the police department. at first i paniced thinking a family member might have been hurt or something awful, being i have never been in trouble with the law. I could here some cajun music in the background real loud as the officer asked if i could turn down the music coming from in my boat. so i kindly told the officer that i had not put it on. so we go see sure enough it was blarring loud waking up neighbors. I got a ladder climbed in and turned it off. well about 2 months later it happened again during the day, no police involved. i turned it off. then again it happened when i got back from work one night about 3 months later, and from then on i started turning my battery switch off. well i put my batteries to charge tonight and the light on the radio kicked on but not the radio, i think its possesed'''. Lol. I finally had enough tho i think i am gonna rip that thing out and get me a new one. its not a radio that has a remote and its digital. cant see any reason why it should be doing that and at random and so far apart. well anyway its time for it to go.

If u think ducks will eat grass over rice and corn then we are only fooling ourselves, we need to be able to put feed in our ponds. I my self like the idea of them coming out with a feed permit, or tag. the money can go towards conservation and helping with projects. also it will help farmers sell grain, feed stores will gain business, and ducks will be healthier.

im having a hard time this year that's all we got so far a ton of these some times in groups sometimes in pairs, I know the black duck are more likely to be in just a pair but I have to pass because im just not sure on the fly, it sucks, I wish they would just make it 2 per person of either.

lol yea the salt water makes it to you, but you aint south son you redneck in my book. let me put it this way then, coonasses only in coastal zone ,south of hwy 90 ONLY, and as far as im concerned you can start in july if it makes you happy.

November 16, 2015 at 10:02pm
A comment titled: Re: Stop Complaining in response to a report titled: Stop Complaining

that's because you don't belong in the coastal zone. they need to put the coastal zone where it belongs, SALT WATER ONLY. look good at the guys that are complaining we hunt salt water, we get plenty of ducks just not till around thanksgiving on. every one is arguing about it, start looking at where people are from.

seen a lot of otters in the bayous and bay edges and usualy when they go under they dive and their back and but come out the water as they go under. the way this thing went under was like it popped up and went straight back down lol. my buddy said he seen the same thing in a different lake on a different day. it was just odd lol. I know theire was a manatee that came up bayou Lafourche once.

June 24, 2015 at 7:47am

good luck. I have been doing the same thing, trying to learn and ask questions. I thought it would be easy because of some of the reports made it seem that way, but I made 3 trips, wich yielded a total of 3 sacalait. lol. I can catch specks and reds in my sleep, because its all ive ever done, but its all about scouting and learning, unless someone gives up there honey hole or you get lucky right away, we probably gonna have to just put the time in.

A comment titled: Trespassing in response to a report titled: Warning

The oil companies used to repair all the cuts that eroded when I was younger we had to throw pirogues over the banks to get in to the lease we had. Over the years they stopped repairing and with all the erosion people can get into the marsh anywhere. We are all trasspassers. Every has fished on someone else's property at one point or another whether it be a canal or pond. No one fishes just on there lease. That being said I do my homework before going out for hunting and make sure I'm in the right place and legal because I've been on both sides.

That area used to be all land. you better know where your at. And yes we are all truss passers. It sucks that it happened but louisianas stupid laws let land owners own the water. Things like this are what cause fences to go up.

I can say this. IF YALL NEW the fish we used to catch in catfish lake in the 80's yall would WET your pants. And you didnt have to go far. just at the mouth of the lake. i didnt even know what the other side of the lake looked like for years, until fishing got more popular and we started having to venture further. If we caught less than 30 trout i wouldnt say anything that was a bad trip. there was only one launch and it was behind chicks bait shop. 10 cars was a crowd. just saying

all the boats you mentioned will draft close to the same. most all bay boats do pretty well in the ponds without any problems. everyone is gonna give you an opinion on why there boat is the best, cause they bought what worked for them. buy what is best for what you do. but as far as draft youll do fine with any bay boat.

i agree with ranger z, I can speak for alot of people in the area when i say something is just not right. born and raised in golden meadow, leeville grand isle area, fish every weekend and inbetween. its not just the fish missing this year, but a decline in crabs also. I just have to ask myself, COULD IT BE FROM THE SPILL? the better part of me hopes not. but its definatly got me worried.
