Thursday morning and winds were non-existent so jumped in the boat to make a quick fishing trip in Terrebonne Bay. Expectations were low since the trout season has not been very kind. Figured I would go out drown a few minnows and enjoy the ride. Arrived at my spot and first cast it was fish on. It ended up being one stop shopping and left them biting. Started with live minnows and then once they were feeding started chunking vudu pearl and chartreuse skrimp under a cork. Raised the I-pilot and headed in for breakfast. What a day.

Had a great day on the water yesterday in Black Bay. Fed the sheep our live shrimp in the morning till we found some clear water and bingo. Fish where caught in 8 ft of water Carolina rigged live shimps on the bottom. Caught a couple on plastic but 99% on live shimps. They was smashing the bait like they was really hungry. Good clean water had to be found and the tide was moving also.

Went down with my friend Jim and braved the fog this morning to see if anything was biting. Found some hungry reds willing to take our bait. Fish were really fighting this morning for some reason other than a hook in their mouth. Fishing shoreline where we found some bait and had seven perfect keepers with a hand full of throw backs. Fish caught on minnows under a cork. Still have fish with the warm weather. Be safe in the fog and watch out for the other guy,

The 1st Annual Deputy Jeremy Triche Spots and Dots Fishing Tournament was held this past Saturday. The tournament was greeted with high water and 30 MPH winds. That did not dampen the fishers as they headed out in all directions. Fish were weighed and the results are as follows:

Adult Division

Specks Reds

1. James Thomas 6.5# Lance Luquette 33.5#

2. Doug Triche 4.5# Cornbread Plaisance 20#

3. Garret Ringler 2.5# Sean Eppinette 13.5#

Youth Division

Reds

1. Donivan Roudrigue 2#

As you can see the winds and water played havoc to the speck division. After weigh in door prizes, raffles and auctions took place after eating a delicious meal while listening to some good music.

The Deputy Jeremy Triche Fallen Hero Foundation would like to thank all those who participated in the tournament and to all those who donated prizes, food and their time. Thanks to all those who donated their winnings back to the Foundation, those who participated in the auction and raffle. It was a complete success and thanks to all who came out and celebrated Jeremy's life and love of fishing. Mark your calenders for next June 11th 2016 for the 2nd annual.

Boarded the big Kenner Sunday morning early since the weather settled down after the big blow passed through Saturday evening. Seas were calm and skies overcast making perfect conditions. Had on board Brian and Denise wanting some fast and furious action after they fished for the bronzed back beauties the day before. Limited out Friday on the spotted ones so I knew exactly where I was headed. Loaded the boat with some live minnows and a few plastics and set out. Arrived at Last Island on the inside opposite the beach and put my manual power pole down. First cast and it was on like Donkey Kong. Using minnows under cork they were slamming the bait and the poor minnows jumping out the water to try and save their lives. Used secondary bait when the water was boiling tight lining Tsaunami blue back swim baits in tandem. Bite was on and off but mostly on and finished up just shy of our limit. No complaints and headed back in to the camp. Denise ended up with the big trout in the boat but won't mention that when she picked it up off the floor it kinda squirted out her hands and back into the water. Kaw Lee...... Only thing left to do is decide how a die hard LSU fan has the nerve to wear 'gator' colors.... Yikes Fish are there to be caught when the weather allows. Be careful and enjoy

With size increase there will be an increase if throwback mortality just because you have to handle more fish at certain times of the year. I say reduce the size limit to 11 inches reduce the creel limit which reduces mortality rate and move on. We all know that certain times of year those pesky trout range from 11 1/2 to 11 15/16 inches. Thanks for listening. Dilly Dilly!

I use the Penn Fierce 3000 on a 7 foot rod. Used 3 years plus one dunking in saltwater. I use the Penn Fierce 5000 on bigger rod for bull reds. No issues at all and think they run around $70. Happy fishing....

Not sure about how quickly an interior will dull other than use of harsh cleaners to clean and the amount of use but I would say both would dull at the same rate based on the above statement. I had a white interior in my previous boat and now have the grey/silver interior now. Will tell you this the white interior was a Cajun microwave when the sun started pounding on it and it was bright. Now with the grey interior do not get that and it looks just as good as the white. I don't think you would be disappointed with the grey interior. Plus with the black hull it will look great.

Yes you can use a winch to pick the trawl out the water. As long as you stay under quota for total shrimp you do not need a commercial license. Here is the kicker. Any trawl that is hoisted/assisted out of the water by a mechanical device requires a TED. Remember those..... Turtle Excluder Device

It could be many things. I had that happen before and the pinion gear on the bottom of the shaft split. You going to have to drop the foot and take it apart. Put all new seals when you remediate the problem and do a pressure check. Good luck

Don't end up in court. If it's two you had fishing you are illegal. Limit of one redfish over 27 inches per person. Good luck.

Would not leave home without it. Cell phones are great but signal is sometimes weak to none. You can find an excellent radio for about $100 on the net. Some now even connect to your GPS and you have an emergency button on the VHF and it sends out your coordinates. Can't go wrong. The only thing is the 36' antena is only good for about 3 miles and the 7 foot is good for about 10 miles. But the 36' will get you the coast guard or someone within range. Safe boating.....

Removed the spade connector from the groud, cut it off and replaced with a new one. Reconnected ground and been fine ever since. Hit some nice waves to prove it. Good to go..

A comment titled: I received a ticket in response to a report titled: Attention All Boat and Trailer Owners!!!

about 25 years ago in Lafourche parish for not having an inspection sticker for my boat trailer. It was around election time and figured a favor for a favor. What a great state. You are required to have one. I obtained one after the ticket but have never gotten another ticket or inspection sticker since. Its all about the money.......
