Anyone know if they are bad in the Dularge at this time?
Why, when trying to post an ad in the classified, does the Subcategory drop down menu never work correctly? Very frustrating!
Could someone point me to the lastest articles about the new proposed bass regulations in the Basin.
Well it looks like the AR prices should return to normal now that BHO's plan says NOTHING about banning guns or high capacity magazines.
How whould ya'll handle this situation?
I recently turned over a gun to a local gun shop to try and sell it on consignment with the agreement that if the shop owner sold the gun there would be a 10% commission few. I then asked him, if I sell the gun what happens then. He specifically told me that there would be no charge especially since I would be using the funds from the sale to have a custom gun built by him. The shop owner told he that the purchaser would still have to come to his shop and fill out the federal forms to legally release the to him. Well today I called the shop and told them I had a sale for the gun and the buyer would be driving to his shop to pick up the gun. I was asked how much I sold the gun for and was told that he would still get his 10% off of my sale. Now I completely understand if someone walked in off of the street into his shop and bought my gun, I would need to pay the commission, but after our verbal agreement and the fact that I made the sale, why should he except any commission. This is the first time I've done a consignment deal, so I'm not sure if this is SOP. Am I wrong or is the shop owner wrong for crawfishing on our agreement?
Could someone tell me why the Hanson Canal at Hwy 90 near Franklin is still blocked with sheet pilings. It was blocked around this time last year for the flood, but it has never been removed. This canal was a way to get from Franklin to the Teche and now it seems that the water in the Hanson Canal is completely covered with duck seed.
Well my son and I had another awesome hunt saturday afternoon. We left the house in the golf cart at about 4:15 and headed onto the property. My father-in-law dropped me Collin off at a spot where we could see in three directions. We set up were we had a headland to our front, a headland to our right, and a fence line to our left. Collin is sitting on an icechest with drinks, and he is using the Sako A7 .25-06 resting on a monopod shooting stick. My father-in-law leaves and goes set up in another location on the property.
Well we've been here now for about 45 minutes when out walks a bobcat at about 75 yards. Collin lets one go and it finds the mark right in the shoulder and exits out of the ribcage. DRT!!!! Didn't move. We high five, and holler it up like some fools . We take a walk down to get the cat. 77 yards on the range finder. We bring the cat back to our set up and take pics. It's still early, and we want to give my father-in-law time to finish his hunt so we stay put. I had my .308 with me, so I ask Collin if he would like to try it out if something else comes out. He says sure I'll try it. So I get him set up with the .308 and tell him to expect a little more kick and that the trigger is very light, so make sure the cross hairs are on target before you put your finger on the trigger. He gets the instructions and is ready. We wait about an hour and just about the time we think our hunt is going to end, I look down the fence line and see a small pig cross the lane and go into the woods. Collin is sitting on the icechest facing the opposite direction. I tell me to spin around, and he does. He's now set up looking down the fence line. I tell him to get ready, and just as I finished a BIG pig steps out into the clearing with a bunch of little pigs in tow. Collin lets one fly from the Remington 700 .308 with handloaded 150gr Hornady BTSP. The round finds the mark. The rear end of the pig drops and it takes off into the woods. It sounds like a bulldozer running through the water and trees. A couple of seconds later it comes back across the clearing about five yards farther away, and I could tell it was hit good. I get on the phone and tell father-in-law that we are going to have to track a pig, and for him to come meet us before it gets completely dark. I give my light to Collin and tell him, Ok, go find blood. I'm waiting on father-in-law, when I hear Collin, 'I got blood!' I walk over and the pig is dead right there, only about ten yards from where he was shot, after running about 50 yards in a circle. This thing was BIG. 250 pounds! The BTSP entered the pig behind the shoulder and founds it's way through the heart and exited with about a one inch hole and blow some lung out of the exit wound. Easy blood trail. Definitely a good hunting round.
Anyway....we went get the ATV's and the little trailer, cuz there was no way we could load that pig on the golfcart, and brought it back to the house to clean. We took about hundred pictures. Here's a few, hope ya'll enjoy em.
Got this little sow Saturday evening. First of many, I hope.
Let my son shoot his first pigs in one of our traps with his new little TC HotShot .22, dropped both of em. He was pumped up, and boy do those little ones eat good.
About to buy a new boat, thinking about Yamaha F150, or Yamaha 150 HPDI. Has anyone had any trouble witht he new HPDI 150's. I know they stopped making them for awhile, then started making them again, Does anyone know why they stopped, and if the new ones are reliable?
I'm looking to rent a camp for a weekend in Dulac, Bayou Dularge, Cocodrie, or Lafitte. If anyone would have information or a website that has listings, I would greatly appreciate the info.
I have a question for anyone who knows a thing or two about props. I have an older aluminum boat and I'm looking to get alittle more front end lift. I currently have a 13 7/8" 21 pitch SS 3 blade prop. What type of prop will get me more lift. 4 blade? Higher number pitch? Lower number pitch? I'm not looking for the boat to ride like my skeeter, just looking for a little bow lift. The motor is a Johnson 90hp. Any help will be appreciated.

Mardi Gras day I went fishing in what once was my favorite fishing hole, Lake Dauterive/Lake Fassue Point. This once very productive fishing lake has over the years become nothing more than one big mudflat with the exception of a couple of deeper water borrow pits.
I don't know if this would be feasible, and I am fairly certain we would never get the funding, but I was thinking that a weir system / dam installed on the canal leading out of the lake may be a tremendous help to the lake. Some sort of dam that would allow the water level in the lake to back up and raise the level 5-6 feet, and just flow over the top if the level becomes too high. The only draw back that I see is that it would stop boat traffic from being able to run in and out of the lake, but that is done mustly just for tournaments. Would anyone know if this would be possible, or would this just make the silting problem worse. I'm sure it would probably take a long, drawn out study, but I was just tossing the idea around in my head and figured I would ask the question on here.
Any ideas or commits?
Billy Doiron, the e-mail address you used to ask about the bow I have for sale is not letting me reply. Please try another if you are still interested.
Last week and then again yesterday I witnessed some very bad sportsmanship on the water that I would like to share and hopefully help someone who just might not know better.
The first incident: I was fishing down a large, wide dead end canal early in the morning, I was fishing alone waiting for my buddy to meet me at the landing later. As I trolled and fished around a corner, I notice another boat farther down the canal. They were fishing very slow and I was fishing fast and was catching up to them. When I got about 50 yards fromt he back of thier boat, I turned my boat around and began fish the same way to I had come from. I think I was very courteous.
My buddy met me and we changed locations. We pulled up into a canal neither of us had been in before. The canal was only 20 feet wide max, and only 3 feet deep in the middle, it was about 200-250 yards long and was a dead end canal. Looked like a very good spawning area, so we proceded slowly and quietly. I was casting to one side and my buddy the other. After only fishing about a quarter of the way down, we hear a boat approching, I looked back and it's the same boat from earlier, by the way, it's a flat with a gatortail. I figured they would turn around, they didn't. As the boat approachs the drive says "pick a side, coming through", and passes my boat with only about 6 inches of clearance. As he passes me he says, "they're about half way down". Hw then drives his gatortail mudding up the entire canal all the way down. I fumed for about three minutes, started my boat and had every intention of following him until he stopped then passed him up and start fishing in front of him. I always have my gun in my boat (only because I don't want to leave it in my truck at the landing) so I decided to just turn around a leave, because it would have only gotten ugly had I followed him. What a JACKA$$
The second incident, I'll make this one short, was very similar. A guy passes me up in a pretty wide canal, going slow. When he passes me he gets on step and then stops only about 200 yds down. I don't feel that he cut me off, but if he was only going to go a couple hundreds yards down, you shouldn't get on step, just continue to go slow.
Ok, that's the end of my gripe.
Please practice courtesy on the water.

I'm looking to send our family dog for some obedience training, and I remember someone on here a few months back saying that they had a very bad experience with a local kennel. Would anyone happen to remember which kennel? I really don't want my dog coming back with problems that he doesn't have before I send him. Also if anyone could recommend a kennel that would be great. The dog is a Cocker Spaniel about 6 months old and I just want him to listen a little.
Late yesterday afternoon while trying to get the 100lbs hog out of the trap, he got away. My question to you guys that trap hogs is....do you shoot them if the trap and if so do you find that the hogs won't go back into the trap if there is alot of blood in it? The trap that has been most productive isn't moveable and we don't like shooting them in the trap thinking that it will stop other hogs from going in.
