I have posted before this idea now I am posting again. I was wondering who would like to be involved in helping clean up the launches and canals. If you know of a water way or public launch that needs to be cleaned on to be opened e-mail me and let me know and we can try to get some "LOUISIANA SPORTSMAN" to volunteer and get them up and running.Let do more then gripe about the problems and lets see some action.

Merry Christmas all. Have a safe and happy holiday from the Smith family and remember Being a sportsman is not a hobby it is a way of life.....

December 25, 2005 at 2:00pm

Where is delta at and is it open to gun hunting during the gun season. I only hunt deer 2 weekends a year< that is when duck season is closed.> All I need to know is how to get there and if it is open land. I am not looking for honey holes.

October 12, 2005 at 8:43pm

You know it is almost here when you walk out side and that north wind hits ya and makes you nipples hard . Well atleast that is what it does it to me. I have been dreaming about ducks and I am ready. How does everyone else feel about the opener.I know it makes me weak in the knees . Remember duck hunt is not a hobby it is a way of life.-marsh1buster-

I made it to Big Branch this morning , I only shot my gun once. I was in disbleif , I had saw alot more teal yesterday and only a few today . o by the way Feds gave us a verbal warning that they just decided to close Big Branch Thursday and they didn't post it on the Big Branch web site. Pearl River WMA is open I am going to go scout it this afternoon.

A comment titled: All fired up in response to a report titled: Hunters need to stick together.

Why can't people leave well enough alone. I am so tired of people trying to take our rights aways as sportsman and women. I heard a saying on SCI T.V. yesterday that made a lot of since. "If you take your kid hunting you will never have to hunt for your kid." I hate to say it but if they outlaw hunting, I will be the biggest outlaw there is. Dove hunting has been a traditional hunt since the early 1900's. That is why every opening day of dove season is on the first Saturday of September. It has always started at noon. It was tradition for the farmers to have family over in the first Saturday of September normally when there crops were coming to an end. The men and women would eat lunch then the men would make a gentle mens after noon dove hunt over their harvested fields. Well the point I am getting at is that hunting is much more then killing an animal, it is a way of life. It is a tradition. And if there was ever a time when there would be some type of fall out all should know a country boy can survive but a coonass is going to get fat.

I work on a crab boat in the Rigolets area, Lake Pontchatrain hasn't been producing much on good crabs. mainly due to all the pile driving. Lake Borgne has been producing a much better crab.

A comment titled: Silver back in response to a report titled: what the ....!

The Hurricane must still have them pretty scattered. That is a 9th ward Silver Back. A rare siting indeed. You can tell by the big lips and the fake gold around his neck. But I don't think he a is a keeper though.

A comment titled: Great pyreniese in response to a report titled: Freakin Coyotes!!!!!!!!!!!

These are big Shepard type dogs and yotes don't stand a chance. My uncle has one and it has killed many of yotes. They are also protective of kids and their owners. Most importantly it is LEGAL. When they hit a yote, the yote is dead before it hits the ground they hit them so hard it breaks the yote back and neck .

A comment titled: Have some consideration. in response to a report titled: Gill Netters at it again!!!

I am a sport and a commercial fisherman. Have you ever looked at the other side ? Most likely not. People were gill netting way before you where even thought of. I am not attacking you but asking you to look at both sides. Commercial fishermen today are having hard enough times then you think. With the boom of imports that come from god knows where, wouldn't it be nice to eat FRESH FLOUNDER that cam from our state waters and benefits a LOUISIANA resident. We were also hit hard by the storm, and are suffering more then most . Give us a break.

A comment titled: Power Pro Vs Spiderwire Stealth in response to a report titled: Fishing line ??

Power Pro is a great line to use but don't use it on your bait caster Spider Wire is much better for bait casters. The thing I hate the most about Power pro is it is very rough running through your guides. With Spiderwire it is a whole lot smoother and rounder. The con about Spiderwire is it isn't as sensative as power pro. In short I have Power Pro on my Spinning rod , spiderwire on most of my bait casters, and Trilene on my flipping rod. When you spool up any braided line make sure you back it with mono ;any cheap mono will work.

A comment titled: Speckulizer in response to a report titled: live bait

I love a Speckulizer I have caught more fish on it then with live bait. After you see how it is rigged you can make your own as I do. Secret is to pop the hell out of it and let it sit for about 10 to 15 seconds. then pop the hell out of again. It is really good for when you are working birds in bays or working flats when the sows move up to eat the bait that moves up when it warms up . All in all it is a good bait . Today I caught 20 trout on it in the Stump Lagoon area in Hopedale.

A comment titled: Alweld or Express in response to a report titled: G3 VS Alweld

Many people don't know it but Express is an Alweld company. I have a 14'x48" alweld with a 40hp Johnson, I have no complaints I duck hunt and fish out of it. I have been in some pretty rough stuff in it including 5 footers in black bay, I don't do this by choice with this boat but sometimes stuff happens. If I was to ge another boat I would go with a 18 Express with a 115 e-tec.But I also have a fetish with over powering a boat, it is something about a little boat passin up bay boats that get my rocks off.

Long gun you never have any facts backing what you say, thus making it here say or as you would understand it your opinion. Instead of talking trash and getting away from the question at hand why don't you put up or shut up. The man asked a simple question ; not a war. By the way I would take the big bad putty cat over a rice rat any day .
