I have a Mosseberg 351C .22cal that belonged to my dad. When I got it from my mom it was not functioning. I believe that I have purchased all the small parts that I need to get it back working. I have one part that I am unable to line back up. Is there anyone out there that maybe familiar with this model gun?

Made a trip with my father-in-law on Sunday. We went straight out to Sister Lake. We got there as the sun was rising. The bite was slow but we were still picking up fish. As the sun rose the birds began diving. Move to a group and started picking up alot of white trout. Decided to move a little and started finding the specks. Ended the day with 54 trout (mixed) and 1 red. Not bad for 1/2 a day.

Guys how do I find out the value of my boat if I was interested in selling it? What websites are out there that could help me determine the value? Thanks

I need a little information. My family has a camp that I just found out about around the Lucedale, MS area. I made a trip out to the camp this past weekend and noticed a wildlife check in station down the road from the camp. It is located in George County. I looked at the wildlife page for MS and found out that it is the Pasagoula River management area. The only problem is there are not maps for the area. Also has anyone hunted in this area before. If I read the rules correctly Non-residents can not kill does on management areas. Is this correct? Any info that anyone has will be helpful because like I said I do not know anything about the area. Thanks....

My friend invited me to go hunting in AL the week after Christmas. He had told me to bring my fishing line also just in case we had time to go do a little fishing in his buddies pond. I can say this is the biggest bass that I will have ever caught.

February 19, 2010 at 11:19pm

Caught this bass in a pond in Alabama. Went on a hunting trip with a friend and was able to due a little fishing on the side. I don't care that it was a pond fish, it was the biggest bass that I will probably ever catch.

I have a question that anyone that hunts in Alabama can answer. I got invited to hunt the week of Dec. 27th. I was going to drive up early on Sunday and hopefully make a hunt that afternoon. I will be purchasing a 3 day hunting license. When will it expire? Will I be able to hunt the Wednesday morning or will it expire on Tuesday?
Also can you purchase a license anywhere like you can in LA or is there only certain places to purchase the license.
Thanks for any help...

I have got the hunting fever... My friend invited me to go hunting this weekend for opening rifle. I have been preping for this since last week. Ready to leave.. Is it Friday yet???

November 16, 2009 at 8:24am

Went help my buddy plant some food plots and do some other work around that lease this weekend. As I was on the way home heading South on I-55 I noticed a truck with a 4 wheeler in the back. Starting looking at the bike and noticed a sticker on the back window of the truck. Now before I say what the sticker said I know on this site there is a lot of opinions about dog hunting, but this sticker is really over the top.
The sticker read...."Save a bloodhound shoot a still hunter"
Now what type of example is this ????

Got to go fishing this past weekend. We had the mind set of catching fish for the box and for the Terreanians Rodeo. Friday we got to fish the afternoon after work and picked up a couple of reds, nothing to brag about. Saturday we ran to Pelican Pass with out any luck. We decide to hit the surrounding areas and immediatley hooked up with some nice reds. We started with 6 reds in one little hole along with a rodeo winner flounder 2.9lbs, a couple of specks, and a small drum. Not bad! We moved over about 50 yards and caught the other 4 reds. Limit done.. Went back to the camp and dropped them off. After a quick nap and a bite to eat we decided to go back to the same spot. First 2 cast produced to nice reds. The only problem was earlier the tide was high and in the afternoon it was falling fast. The fish were there but the boat was too big to get back into the cuts w/o kicking up mud. So we decided to leave for the day and go for trout. Not to much luck only picked up a dozen or so. Rodeo winner red fish stringer was huge at 41.15 lbs. These fish were all 26 3/4" and average weight was little over 8 lbs. These guys were on the fish.

I have been hearing mixed reports on the Pickets and Coonpoint. Some people are tearing them up and others say don't waste the gas. I had one report saying that everyone was catching but him because he did not have live bait. He personally don't go that far with out live bait. What are they hitting on more? Live shrimp, coca hoes, or croakers? I plan on making a trip next weekend. Little info would help.

A friend of mine was hunting the lease for turkey. He always sticks to a certain spot on the lease where we usually see turkeys during the deer hunting season. It is an isolate section of the lease that may be 100 acres. The gentlemen that owns the adjacent land has a huge pasture with cows and horses. My friend was hunting the area all season long. Will 2 weekends ago during his hunt he is approached by two game wardens that have been watching him all season long. They new that he smoked, what he drove, and that he used a therma cell. They sighted him for hunting over a baited field. Now he was at least 300 yards for the pasture were the land care taker was dumping corn. My friend was not aware for the corn being dumped, so how can he be sighted for this. This is North LA around Ruston. It sounds to be like he is getting shafted. How can you control something if you know nothing about it? The only thing that we can think is that we have to go onto the others property to get to this 100 acres section. But it is a public road that takes us there. Can anyone expalin this to me....??????

Christmas day was filled with talk about going fishing on Friday morning. Myself, father-in-law and brother-in-law made up the crew. Got to father in laws house for 5 am and we were off. Went straight out to Lake Meshaw (I know spelling is wrong) and picked up about 25 or so. We decided to hit some of my hot spots in Sister Lake and the birds were diving. Picked up a couple there also and then went to one of the hot spots. We thought we were in some school trout but they were all 15-16" on average. We dropped anchor and the slaughter began. It was one after another. They would only hit anything with red on it. We were mostly throwing green with red tails at them. Finished the day with 3 limints and one red. We did have 2 reds pop off also. Great trip and better company made for one hell of a day.....

This deer was killed by my buddy at my hunting lease in Arcadia. It was an 8 pt with a 17" inside spread and weight in at 195 lbs. He shot at a 6 pt that morning but missed and then later on he spoted this deer (after determining that me missed the 6) he let the bullet fly hitting this deer from about 275-300 yards. Didn't run far either....

Introducing the newest addition to the LA Sportsmen family. This is mine new hunting buddy Rowan Michael. He was born 11/27/08 @ 9:11 PM, weighted in @ 7 lbs. 13.5 oz and was 20" long. He and mom aew both doing fine. A matter of fact he went to the Dr. yesterday and was already up to 8 lbs. 4 oz and 23" long. He told me that he was trying to be ready for next season.

Ok guys need a little help. Two weeks ago I postede that I shot at a doe an missed. Well that was not hte case. A guy that I hunt with was scouting the area that we hunt. Well he came across a does remains. He started looking for the easiest way out of the woods an he came across my shooting lane. Know there was no blood when I shot her. 3 of us looked for 45 min. to and hour and found nothing. I shot a .50 cal 295 grain power point hollow point w/ 100 grains. What went wrong??? Any suggestions what happen??? The doe was about 130 yards away broad side. Shot placement not sure where I hit her, but according to what he said another 20-30 yards and we would have found her so she only ran about 60-70 yards total in the thick stuff.....

November 24, 2008 at 8:16am

Well yeaterday I got off of work around 3pm and went straight into the woods, got settled down for about 3:30. For a while it did not look good only seeing possums and coons eating all my corn that I had threw out by hand two days before. Well right at dark around 5:30 2 does came out off the woods all the way down my shooting lane (around 110-130 yards). They came out and went right back into the woods. Everyone knows that once you start losing light it goes quick. She finally step back out and I pulled the muzzleloader trigger. About 10 minutes went by and I got out of the stand to hurry to find blood but decided to back down. Went back about 45-1 hour later and found NO blood, NO hair. Clean miss!! Hopefully I got that out of the way for the season. Hope ya'll had better luck. There is always today......
My friend that hunts with me called at 8 am on Sunday (while I was workng) and he killed what he thought was a doe but ended up to be a button buck, but his new HR 45/70 did the trick....

November 09, 2008 at 6:58am

Caught this 5 pt on the game cam. I was told by others that hunt this area that they have seen this deer before. It has a big body but small horns. I was thinking the weight to be around 150-160 lbs. and the deer to be about 2-3 years of age. What do ya'll think. Shot or let'em grow. Another thing is that if someone else on the land sees him they might shot if I don't. This is private land(about 100 acres)that a few people are allowed to hunt.

THE PEOPLE THAT I ROOM WITH

WERE LAYING FAST ASLEEP,

A SNORING AND FARTING

LIKE A HERD OF SHEEP.

THE HARD HATS AND STEEL STOES

WERE OUTSIDE IN THE HALLS

SMELLING LIKE THAT STINKY CHEESE

YOU GET BENEATH YOUR BALLS.

WHEN SEDDENLY I HEARD A SOUND

THAT ALMOST PIERCED MY EARS

FOLLOWED BY SOME FOOTSTEPS

THAT I THOUGHT MIGHT BE REINDEERS.

SO I OPENED UP MY DOOR

AND WHAT CAME RUNNING PAST

A ROUSTABOUT HIS FIRST TIME OUT

WITH RIG DOPE IN HIS A**.

I WATCHED HIM IN AMAZEMENT

AS HE STAGGERED OUT OF SIGHT

AND I KNEW EIGHT FROM THAT MOMENT

THIS WEREN’T NO REGULAR CHRISTMAS NIGHT.

SO I CRAWLED BACK INTO MY RACK

AND TRIED TO DO MY BEST

TO LAY THERE ALMOST MOTIONLESS

AND TRY TO GET SOME REST.

WHEN ONCE AGAIN I HEARD A NOISE

THAT HAS TO BE SAINT NICK

THEN A CUBAN SPEAKING GALLEYHAND

SAID IT’S 5 O’CLOCK YOU PRICK.

SO I TRIED TO WASH MY SLEEPY FACE

AND STARTED MY DAY WITH HOPE

I DREID MY EYES AND THEN LOOKED DOWN

AT PUBIC HAIR ON THE SOAP.

I FINALLY MADE MY WAY DOWNSTAIRS

AND WHAT CAME INTO VIEW,

THE BLURRY FIGURE OF A MAN

THAT EVERYBODY KNEW.

HE DIDN’T HAVE NO WHITE BEARD

OR DIMPLES ON HIS CHIN

HE SAID MERRY CHRISTMAS HAND!

YOUR A** AIN’T GOING IN.

SO ENJOY YOUR CHRISTMAS

MAY YOU HAVE MANY MORE

CAUSE WHILE YOU’RE OPENING UP YOUR GIFTS

MY A** IS STUCK OFFSHORE!!!!

A comment titled: Agree in response to a report titled: ban lifted

Guys I have been doing weekend work on the water operations out of Cocodrie as a Safety Coordinator. I have seen boats interfearing with the clean up efforts. The USCG, Wildlife and Fisheries and Terrebonne Parish Water Patrole are not playing around with these individuals. Depending on what they were doing to get stopped or reported, I have seen tickets and warnings beingging issued. But when the USCG comes at you at 50mph it is intinadating. Be mindfuly that we are trying to get the water back the way it was but it will take time. Slow down for boats that are working and if possible stay out of the areas that work is taking place.

A comment titled: 2-3 months in response to a report titled: Oil Spill Question

This morning it is saying 2-3 months to drill a relief well. I have worked in the oil field on a drilling rig. It is not easy as it sounds. You need to realize that the water depth is 5,000' + 18,00' to the pay dirt. 1 stand of piping roughly read 90' long. You do the math....

A comment titled: It is required in response to a report titled: Coast Gaurd Regs for lights on a Moored Barge/camp.

I am a safety coordinator and Have vessel along the Houma Nav. It is a requirement to have blinking lights on the outer most part of the barge or vessel. It has to be on both ends(bow and stern). If you remember last year we lost 5 people to a barge collision in Falgout canal for this reason. If they are not light correctly you should report it that way know one gets hurt.

I appreciate the info Chris. I ended up sending the AL wildlife and fisheries an email asking them the question that I posted hear. Can you believe that someone actually called me about 10min. later. She was very friendly and the info that you have provided was exactly what she said.
I can not wait to go. This will be my first time hunting in AL. Hopefully it will be a successful one. I hope to be posting pictures of my harvest at the beginning of the year.

My friend went a shot at 2 teal and that was all. They hunted from 5:30 and did not get out until 9:30. He said very little shooting in the PAC. Not good yet. Need some more cold weather. Lots of big ducks though

September 15, 2009 at 7:35am
A comment titled: I wouldn't join!! in response to a report titled: Lake of Houma

Look I was a member for about 3 years and the hunting is not all that great. The only time that the hunting was good in there was opening days of both teal and big duck. The only ducks that I ever killed in there were teal, some grays, and wood ducks. The coots used to be really good in there, but the pressure drove them out.
The original dues were only $500 which was not that bad considering there were only about 25 members. It stayed like that for about 2 years. Then the price went to $600 and members were added. I got out in 2007 when the price went to $800 and the membership went to 36 members. That lake is not big enough for that many members.
On top of that, you can only hunt on Wednesday, Sat., and Sunday. Certain holidays you can hunt the whole week.
Hope that help your decision.

A comment titled: Don't agree in response to a report titled: HUNTING CLUB RULES

I would not be a member of a club that I could not bring someone with me. I have traded many hunts this way by inviting a friend and then the following week go hunt his property. Also there has been several occasions when other members were not going hunting. I am not sure about you but I don't like driving 5 hours to hunt by myself. I these cases I brought a friend.
The only rule was that I was only allowed 2 does a season. If my guest shot a doe that counted against me. Also another rule was that the 1st buck you killed could be what ever you wanted. After that 6 pt or better. Same ruled applied. If my guest shot an 8 pt opening morning, I had to hunt for 8 pt or better the rest of the season.

That is how it has been for me also. Hit or Miss. Most of the time I will carry live bait on the boat.Little added expense to the trip but well worth it if the fish only want that. Better to have than not to have.

HOUMA -- The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office has named the five men they say were killed Wednesday night when their boat struck a barge in Falgout Canal near La. 315.

The dead have been identified as follows:

Michael J. Carrere, 43, of the Bayou Blue area.

Carey J. Meche, 52, of Metairie.

Lawrence H. Flak, 54, of Conroe, Texas.

Rene J. Gauthier, 59, of Houston, Texas.

William Voss, 49, of Katy, Texas.

A comment titled: I know 3 of them in response to a report titled: Unfortunate Accident

I was able to obtain 3 of the 5 names of the men that passed in the accident. My brother was taking their companies boat down the canal towards the marina when they saw the water patrol boat and was going to ask of they needed help (not knowing what happened) when they started to yell at them to leave the area. As they were passing, they saw the boat wedged under the barge and happened to notice the body bags laying on the barge. When they got to the marina everyone already new who the people were. They were coming back from Cocodrie when they struck the barge. My prayers out to their family and friends. I believe they might step up the water patrol this weekend in that area. If you have not seen the pictures of how far the barge is sitting in the middle of the bayou, go to wwltv and check it out.
