My Dad and I are looking to join a dove hunting club. I am 34 and my dad is 65, and we have access to tractors and equipment to help work the land to build the field. We both have experience building a productive field, but had to sell our land. Preferably, in the St. Tammany area but we are willing to travel some. Please message me.

I recently found an old flat boat that my Grandpa used to own who has since passed away. I can't seem to be able to figure out how to get it registered? I've searched everywhere for a Serial Number or Hull number but can't seem to find where there might have ever even had one. Please don't be scared to email or IM me if you have gone through this before. It's too nice of a little boat to go to waste.

Funny Story I was at Target(I know, I know) and was at the checkout line when I noticed the guy in front of me had 'marsh hands'.. You know when you go duck hunting and that marsh mud gets stuck in the pores on top of your hands.. So I ask the guy if he shot any ducks and he looked at me like I was crazy, and says yeah, but do I know you.. I pointed out his 'marsh hands' and we both got a kick out of it.. Anyone else get this, seems like no matter how hard you scrub it never comes off.. Long story short our leases are close to each other in Reggio area.. Good Stuff... Any remedies out there, I can scrub for hours and it won't come out.. Gojo helps some but not after a multiple day camping trip.. BTW shot my first marsh Greenhead.. Pretty awesome!!

Fished offshore out of Venice Friday, Saturday, and Sunday on the Cajun Odysea with my friend Capt. Mike Gray... The plan was to break in his brand new 33' Freeman with some big Tuna and boy did we accomplish that mission. In three days we landed 12 Yellowfin Tuna the smallest being 130lbs, and the biggest went 221.4 (# 11 in the state) caught by Jimmy from Boat Stuf in Slidell. Out of the 8 different accomplished anglers we fished with this weekend all 8 beat their personal best Yellowfin!!! The tuna are absolutely huge right now out of Venice.

The weather looks great this weekend and I just talked to Capt. Mike and he has Sunday open, come get your personal best!!!!

I've done this in some other Forums in the past and have had great success so I thought I may try it here. I'm looking to trade a good DOVE hunt for a Shallow Water Redfishing(Fly Fishing) Trip!! I live in Covington and would like to keep it within 60 miles of here if possible. Posted are pics of my boat and I fish In Delacroix/Reggio. Email me if interested!!!

August 30, 2010 at 8:39am

I made a trip out of Delacroix this weekend and came across a large school of these carp while we were redfishing in the Shrimp Lagoon area. Thought I came across a really nice school of reds and threw everything at em before I went right into the school to discover they were carp. Figured I needed proof so I snagged one for a quick pic. Is this something we should be concerned about? BTW next time I will drive through them with my motor trimmed up to see if they jump.

Does anyone know if you can catch Mangroves in the winter in Grand Isle?? Thanks, love me some Mangroves!!

February 02, 2009 at 3:45pm

Has anyone had any experience with those camoflage Neo-Matts from Cabelas? Looking to see if they get soggy with water, fade, stay in place?

December 09, 2008 at 11:08am

Can anyone give me the pro's and con's of adding two square pontoons to the back of my flat boat. I have a G3 1756 Center Console with a 60 on it. I'm wondering what the benefits will be: Stabilzation, getting up shallower, faster?? Also, if anyone knows someone who can install these around the Mandeville/ New Orleans area that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

December 02, 2008 at 9:39am

I'm looking to buy a grab rail for my center console flat boat. Just to be specific it would go ver the center consol part. Need a little something to hold on to when things get hairy. Lol If anyone knows a place around the Mandeville / Slidell Area I'd really appreciate it!!

I know dove hunts are kinda of a social gathering at best, but my previous opening day plans have been smashed by Gustav. If anyone has an open spot for one 24 yr old responsible hunter and my lab "Gator" please give me a call or email. 985-789-4359. Willing to pay if necessary!!

September 05, 2008 at 9:35am

As some of you may remember I posted last Thursday about wanting to go on a offshore charter and wanted to know if anyone had an open spot. Well, shortly after posting, I got a call from a guy wanting to know if I wanted to fill a spot for them. I said I wanted in and that’s were our story begins. First off originally we were supposed to fishwith Capt. Lance Walker, but due to reasons out of his control we ended up going with Capt. Ed Freaky. This by the way is by far the best charter Capt. I have ever had the chance to fish with!! And I’ve fished with a bunch from Coast Rica to Texas!! Upon arriving at the boat Capt. Ed asked if were willing to take a chance and go catch some Wahoo instead of grinding it out at the lump with the other 80 or so boats. We all agreed and off towards the river we ran. After making quick bait for some later deep drops for Grouper and AJ’s we began trolling. Not even 5 minutes into our first pass a double Wahoo hook up and things are starting to get rowdy!! With a relieved Capt, the radio was cranked bean bags put up front and all of us staring at a sounder lit up with fish like a christmas tree!! I think this is the point that we knew this was going to be special day. Troll another round same area bam a balckfin hits our marauder. (Later to be Mako bait, but be patient!!) A little farther bam another double Hoo’s and these are solid!! Time for a little break from trolling for a little bottom fishing, a few nice grouper a nice snapper (my personal best released), and a lot of lost tackle we were back on the prowl for Wahoo. Next couple of hours were nothing short of madness. We couple have easily and I’m not lying put 20+ wahoo in the boat, but what’s the point?? Doubles, triples, and the culmination of the day a quad hookup of really nice Wahoo!! With a whole lot of screaming going on around the boat a lot of razzing and many laughs three were gaffed and high fives all around. Well, guess who’s still fighting their fish(That would be me and my arms were jello at this point) when it starts acting really eratic on the surface, when at about ten feet behind the boat an est. 500+ Mako eats the whole thing. I’m talking the whole thing, not bit it in half, or a chunk. THE WHOLE THING!! Then all I can remember is the hearing MAKO MAKO MAKO and a whole lot of commotion!! Clearing a big work area the blackfin comes out the shark wire is tied on. Time for battle!! Hook the chunk on throw it out maybe six feet from the boat and watch this majestic beast circle e few times then eat the chunk only to have it pull!! New chunk a little chum and here he comes again. Set the hook and a short battle ensues, only to pull the hook again. Capt. Ed was torn up but I think the crew was thrilled to just see it all happen!! After all this it’s about 3:30 or so time to go home right?? NOPE!! We hit a few marks on the GPS we marked while trolling and hit pay dirt on the grouper and AJ’s. AJ’s weren’t that big but at this point no one had the arms to do big battle. We boated probably 10 or so grouper in like 20 minutes until everyone sat down and couldn’t take it anymore. Got to watch the mate Chad work a little scamp which would have been great to show us before the trip started. Probably would have saved a lot of sore arms!! Now give a chance to plug Capt. Ed Freaky’s Tuna Time Charter Service. TOP NOTCH, HOOK YOUR OWN FISH, AND EXCITEMENT THROUGH THE ROOF from the ride out on bean bags in the comfy 32’ Twin Vee, to the determined put fish in the boat attitude, all the way till the fish were cleaned was nothing short of a great time! The boys from Marksville, THANKS A TON FOR INVITING ME ABOARD AND THANKS CAPT. ED and CHAD FOR A GREAT DAY IN LOUSIANA WATERS!! I’LL NEVER CHARTER OUT OF STATE AGAIN EXCEPT FOR A TARPON BUT I KNOW WE GOT THOSE HERE TOO!! LOUISIANA WHAT AN AWESOME PLACE!!!

February 05, 2008 at 10:49am

Is anyone looking for someone to fill in on a tuna trip this weekend? I'm 24 and have done the whole Mardi Gras thing a few times. I'll jump on, split costs, and I'm no rookie offshore!! Charter or private!! Ohh, did I say I can pull one hell of an anchor rope. HAHA

January 30, 2008 at 11:24am

Can someone explain to me the difference between the Conventional styles and the high speed baitcasting reels? Mostly I will be using them snapper, AJ's and cobia. Being that you drop down significant depths you would want the high speed, but am I going to lose that much needed torque to get them away from rigs and such? Also, let's hear some opinions on level winds vs. where you guide it with your thumb??? Thanks!!

January 26, 2008 at 2:55pm

Just got back from the Wax to see where I was going to hunt! After 8hrs of burning fuel we made the call and will be heading to Venice late tomorrow. My buddy there said they have the normal mix of pintails and such!! I thought this front would help but not so much. Offshore we never found them as well as some deep walks into the marsh. We usually open there but I think they may have other plans. Good Luck this weekend!

November 07, 2007 at 7:16pm

Well guys i've asked several questions on here about my dog and I've gotten great advice. This weekend hunted the wax and slaughtered the Teal. My dog Gator did phenomenal for his first hunt ever and found birds I never dreamed of him finding. Question is this, our we had 9 people in our group and hunted 4 and 5 where the group of five had another dog Rebel. Gator and Rebel did not get along at all!! It was so bad My dog had to ride in the boat with me holding his leash. What can I do to fix this problem where my buddy and I are going to be hunting alot togther. He is around other dogs everyday and I've never seen him act like this!!

September 18, 2007 at 3:10pm

Does anybody know where I can get some full sized pen raised ducks for training. Even where I could get some pigeons or maybe some other good ideas to use for training. With the season less than two months till dove/teal season it's time to get serious.

Mine did the dame thing and I figured out what it was and now mine works again.. Up past the fuses on the line that isn't working there is a thicker area of shrink tubing. What that is if you cut it off is where they take three wires and blend them into two with a little jump wire.. That jump wire is broken I'm willing to bet.. I just got a connector and put to wires in on one side and the other wire out going to the fuse and walla!!
