Anyone know the typical time for the rut in area 4?
Can anyone help to identify the poacher one of my game cameras caught late last season in EBRP? Looks like he was setting up on my bran pile.
Can someone tell me the legal distance from a public highway you have to be to discharge a shotgun and is it the same for a rifle? Thanks.
Does anybody know of an individual who works on ATVâs in the Denham Spring or Baton Rouge? Thanks!
Can anybody recommend a good taxidermist in the Baton Rogue area? Thanks
Does anybody know if crabs are in the surf at Grand Isle or Fourchon beach? Thinking about bringing the kids. Thanks
Anybody know of a place within an hour from Baton Rouge where you can crawfish with set nets from the bank. I wanted to bring my kids and show them how we use to do it back in the 70âs.
Here is a pic of my 10-year-old sons first deer killed on youth hunt Saturday afternoon. Adam shot this 140lb 5pt at 35 yards with a single shot 410 and buckshot. What doubts that I had about shooting a deer with a 410 are now gone! After waiting for what seemed like forever for this buck to come in within 35 yards I gave him the ok. One shot dropped this buck in his tracks! I had my hand on his back while he shot and could feel his heart beating 90 mph. I will have to admit that mine was beating just as fast!
With the baby boomers getting older and the lack of young hunters being introduced into the sport I am thinking that hunting land will become much more available in the near future. I also believe that a lot of cane, cotton, and other crops are going to be converted to corn in Louisiana due to the paranoia of the masses and the need for ethanol. What does all this mean? The few young hunters that are introduced to hunting now will have their pick of cheep quality hunting land 20 years from now. Just a thought.
I am thinking of getting a new muzzleloader for next season or should I wait? A friend of mine purchased a 45/70 to hunt with in Miss. Has anyone heard if the backwards state of La will go to this? I donât see much difference between the 45/70 and the muzzleloader other than all the fun of cleaning the dam thing once you have shot it. I mean come on a modern muzzleloader with a high dollar scope, how primitive can you get? I think they should give us,â the ones who pay their salaries,â the choice.
I have read a lot of negative post about ballistic tips. I shoot a Rem model 270 with a 130-grain Vital Shock nosler ballistic tip. I have shot 3 deer this season and every one has dropped in their tracks. One of the shot was 130 yds through the woods free hand while the deer was moving. Needless to say the shot was not perfect and was hit a little far back for my likings. It was not a gut shot but it was close. The deer still dropped in its tracks. I am wondering if I am just lucky or has anyone else had good experiences with the Vital Shock brand.
Does anybody know what the surf is looking like this weekend on Fourchon beach. I was thinking of hooking up the boat and going but heard the water was dirty with 3 foot breakers on the beach. Need quick report, thanks
Fished this Sunday out of Fourchon and caught our limit of 75 trout in 30 minutes. When we got to the jetties we saw birds hitting on the beach. We pulled up to the beach and the bite was on. We were using double plastic rigs and did not matter what color you were throwing. As soon as the bait hit the water you had 2 fish on. I do believe this was the quickest fishing trip I have been on. The whole trip lasted about an hour. The best part was we did not even need live bait. Fish were in the 1-3 lb range. Going back this weekend
My 8 yr old son will be pulling the trigger for the first time this year. He has been shooting my 22 for years and can hit a paper plate at around 70 yards with a small fixed scope. I cannot wait to see what he can do with a larger 4x9. Need suggestions on what to get him to deer hunt with? I am looking for something that wonât intimidate him. Thinking about a 243. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
I was just curious if anyone has a problem with hunting clubs taking down State Land signs in the basin and replacing them with their own signs? I also know for a fact that the State does not lease any of their land. State land is for anyone! If a piece of State Land is land-locked, that is a different situation. An individual must obtain permission to cross private land to enter the State Land. I have obtained a map of all the State Land in the basin and have found that a lot of State Lands that are accessible by boat have had their signs removed and replaced with private posted signs. In fact I am so sure of this that next year I will be hunting on a DMAP club that is actually State Land. When I get confronted I plan on calling the LDWF and turning myself in. When the agent gets there I am whipping out my maps. Either I am going to jail for trespassing or the other guy is going to jail for removing State Land signs. Any comments?
here is another pic.
Gone fishing here are the facts. We know all adjacent clubs and have shared this picture with everyone that borders our property and clubs that border other clubs property and nobody can identify him. He was also less than ¼ mile from a major highway that you can hear and walk to. He is walking the opposite direction of the highway and going deeper into our woods so I suppose I could give him the benefit of the doubt and say that he was blind because he cannot read posted signs and deaf because he cannot hear. He is also a thief because he has one of our stands on his back!!!!!!!!!!!! I posted it again now because when I posted it last year at the end of the season I did not get any response. Getting plenty now, in fact may have a lead for the law!
Thunderchicken, thats a darn good idea.
This picture was taken in the Burbank Rd area. If you need to blow it up shoot me a email and I will send it.
Good info and thanks. Bleach will be on the boat for now on!
Are you serious about the bounce? cause if it does I am trying it this weekend.
That is Very Cool!!!!!!!!!!!
How long after the trip did it take for the infection to set in?
That's pretty good but it looks like you did much better on your last post. You must have been missing one of your class A archers or something like that.
Dam, looks like yall boys can shoot!!!
I would say he's got at least 1000 gm of thinsulate, he dont need no dang jacket!!!
I am thinking of letting my son make a deer hunt with his 20g and was wondering how far the shot was. Gongrats on you first deer.
When things like that happen it lets you know the man above is watching. Great buck!
Man, that's going to be hard to beat dad!! My wife has told me many times women are better shooters than men. I love that last picture where the two are together, she has that you will never beat me on this shot look on her face. You go girl.
BigE19, what did that feel like? Is you shoulder real loose and popping in and out of socket? You getting surgery? I think I have the same thing, going to a specialist next week.
Honda, Honda, Honda, Honda!!!!! Don't really care what size just make sure it's a Honda.
I think you need some Iron Man!!! Talk about ironic. LOL, I know it's not a funny situation but could not help myself. A lesson well learned.
I bring sling shots or bow guns and hunt anything that moves including insects.
Here is what you do next time that happens. Go get yourself one of those loud air horns, just like the ones you use at a sporting event. When your uninvited guest start getting a little too close, pull it out and give them a little wake up call if you know what I mean. I am sure that after several ear ringing blast the pest will go elsewhere, you might even make them drop their pole in the water when the get the **** scared out of them. Just a thought.
I had one and it worked well for about 6 months. My mix lab and catahoula cur learned how to take the shock and dart through the barrier. She would get a running start and hall a** through it with ease. Maybe it would work better for short-legged dogs.
Priceless!!!!!
