Am I the only one that hates the 'hottest reports' section on the right side that replaced the 'most commented' 'most viewed' ' most recent'?? I used to use the old setup every time I came here (multiple times a day). I'm now down to one visit a day.

Just my opinion, but it hate it.

Need to book a fishing trip for 9 fishermen, 3boats, all inshore. Want to arrive the afternoon of 8nov, fish 9 nov and 10nov.

Any advise or offers?? All my tries have come up short. All inclusive is preferred but I'm open to any option.

The NRA is our best weapon against the liberal agenda and their war on our weapons. If you aren't a member, or have a loved one that isn't, please sign up. They have gained 100,000 members since the shooting and are trying to reach 5,000,000.

Save the money you would spend for your next box of ammo and join. If not, that ammo will probably cost you 10x what it is now. Look at it as an investment, yours and your children's.

How to remove seat stain???
I have a white leaning post on my xpress CC-22. It has some spots/stains on it that look like mildew, but i don't think thats what it is. I've tried cleaning it with conventional cleaning products and tried a magic eraser on a friend's recommendation. Nothing works. The seat gets brighter and but the spots stay. Any clues on how to get rid of these?

The West Baton Rouge sheriff's office had a traffic stop setup this morning on LA 1. LA 1 is probably the most traveled highway in West Baton Rouge Parrish. In the infinite wisdom of the sheriff's office, they were holding the light on LA1 between Port Allen and Brusly from 7-8am this morning(maybe longer for that time for certain). While you sat their in the traffic backup, they were walking up and down the traffic, making you roll you window down, and giving out a travel study survey.

People are going to work, conducting business, and getting children to school during this time. How can it be legal for the sheriff's office to form a road block to make you take a survey. I feel like I live in China. This really bothers me, but what I FEAR is what comes next?? Abuse of power and infringement on the citizens always escalates.

Thinking of making a run out of empire tomorrow. Anyone had any action there lately?

July 20, 2012 at 8:20pm

What's the process for going through the locks t empire? I've never gone through a set of locks in my life. Is there. Phone number you call or just pull up?

Instead of posting into one of the lengthy, and ridiculous threads about the 2012 Battle of Tizzy, i'm posting my thoughts and a story in my own thread. It'll be long....

I've read all the threads from the original from Tizzyt to all the measuring responses. If the responders / challengers have the age I think they do, then i'm thoroughly disappointed. I have rarely found in my lifetime someone that is the best at anything or even the top 5 of anything that EVER said they were good at it. I have seen a lot of young people, that think they have the world by the bank make ridiculous claims that come from young ignorance and results oriented confidence. Often they have no real grasp of reality and lack the life experience that will provide a basis of comparison to their perceived GREATNESS.

I expect overly confident and, most often, dead wrong statements from young people. I'm sure i made them. Hell, i'd be surprised if i didn't. Youth is wasted on the young.

I didn't expect to see the replies to this obviously ridiculous statement. You're supposed to be veterans of this site, your sport, and of existence (compared to him). A friendly fish-off is all in good fun, possibly both sides could learn something, all would enjoy the outdoors we are afforded here in Louisiana, and possibly he could start gaining some life experience from some veterans. Maybe both sides would learn some humility in the process.

I took his original post as a youngster that is fresh into life and overflowing with confidence and a lust for something productive. I also noticed the important things. He has a job, which leads me to believe he isn't a dead-head moron like a lot of people coming up today. He says he save his money for years to buy his own boat. That shows he has an important piece of character called commitment. He's out enjoying the outdoors, which means i probably won't see him on the evening news doing smash and grab robberies, or standing on a street corner mid-day Thursday with his pants hanging to his ankles.

He made a classic blunder for his age, and a lot of the replies seem to have taken it personal instead of taking it at face value.

How about drop back and punt. All of you meet up for a good old friendly fish-off and see what happens. Have fun with it and see if all an learn something.

If the challengers are truly a good as they say, what does it really prove beating a 19 year old that most likely is just over confident? He's in a can't lose situation. He wins and you look ridiculous, or you win and everyone knows what they already assume???

I recently purchased a boat, but the trolling motor wouldnt work. It has a 101lb 36v trolling motor, and i thought the batteries were shot. Someone replace the correct batteries at some point with some cheap, car batteries. I bought three Marine Optima's today and when i went to install them I realize the batteries that were in it were wired incorrectly. Some of the wires from the onboard charger were criss-crossed and the wires were going from positive to positive to negative and negative to negative to positive.

I'm charging the new batteries now, but the trolling motor still won't do anything even though i think all three batteries have enough juice in them to make it work.

Would having those batteries wired so wrong burn up the trolling motor? My next step is going to be using the multimeter to check the power to the plug on the bow tomorrow, but i'm just curious if the trolling motor could be junk.

If it is burned up, how much would it cost approximately to have it fixed?

If you buy a used boat out of state, do you still pay taxes only on the trailer? Or do you have to pay LA taxes on the entire purchase price of the boat when you try to get it registered in the state for the first time?

February 11, 2012 at 8:50am

I'm trying to buy a used center console from an individual. Am I being overly uncooperative or is this the right (safe) way to proceed?

The guy originally purchased the boat out of state. The paperwork got messed up somehow during his purchase and he still doesn't have the paperwork straight.

My stance with him is that I will not buy the boat until he has his paperwork straight and the proof of louisiana tax liability has been satisfied from his original purchase. If i understand correctly, you pay tax on the full sale price of the boat when you buy a new one and only pay it on the trailer when purchasing a used one?

I don't want to end up buying it and sitting here 6 weeks from now still waiting on his paperwork to be straightened out. And i definitely don't want to pay 'new' taxes on the boat.

Does my understanding sound correct? Am I just being over complicated?

Never bought a used boat before, so this is a new experience for me.

I was assuming it was because it's in the forum section and not the report section....

who knows.. I'm a vote with my money kind of guy. Won't be coming here as much and won't be renewing the magazine.

If one of the previous replies is accurate, and they did this to FORCE us to look at more of the site, it's really sad. I don't like being forced to do anything.

The alternate sources/entertainment sites are starting to grow on me anyway.

For me, I have LA Sportsman classifieds bookmarked on all my computers, phone, and ipad. I USED to look multiple times a day. I'd look through the first page of classified listing, then I'd check out the Most Commented, Most Viewed, and Most Recent. If anything looked interesting, I'd check it out further. It made it easy for me to look at everything I wanted to see by going to my single bookmarked page. I didn't have to click around, look in multiple forums, or do any searches. Now I'm stuck looking at reports with the most views, which may or may not have any interest to me.

Again, this is just me. It's how I used it and really think the new format is a step in the wrong direction. So much so, my visitation of 'ANOTHER' website is way up since this change.

More than there... Same thing at red river, not going to call it by its new b.s. name. Claim it's over populated, over-browsed, bullshit.

I've been hunting there my entire life. Myself and my family for three generations have hunted what is now the game reserve, when it was private. The population was far greater and the quality of deer was far greater. They can take that heard ratio voodoo and sell it to some bozo that hasn't been there and seen what it can produce for decades.

You used to be able to drive around the levee at night and see all kinds of deer. Now you can run your truck out of gas without seeing a yearling.....

Louisiana department of mismanagement

Need to do a pilot program and survey the hunters opinion after... Three seasons without a single doe day in red river, then maybe phase back in a single doe day. Need to eliminate the doe/bow season matching the private schedule

Flame away.

A comment titled: Old man.... in response to a report titled: Cold feet

I had the same problem for ever and an old man finally gave me the solution.

In my situation I was walking a long way through swampy areas to my deer stand where I would still hung all day. He told me to wear a regular pair of white socks when I get dressed in the morning, and bring your good/warm socks with you. Once I get to my stand, I take off my boots and socks, dry them off, and let them breath for a few minutes. Sometimes it's cold sitting there with nothing on your feet, but better than them being cold all day. Then put on your warm socks and boots. It worked and fixed years of me having numb toes or leaving stand because of hurting feet.

What kind of truck is it in?

We killed one a few years ago that reached from the side rail of a 16' trailer and it's head hung over the opposite side rail. It weighed right at 500lbs.

This one looks comparable. The one we killed tasted like garbage also. Hopefully yours doesn't. We gut shoot those big ones now. Most of ours come out of a swamp area also. I've been told what they eat makes the meat good or bad more than anything else.

'Think I'm goin buddy I believe it is still open Patna and what do you need to get way back 4 wheeler or boat?' You absolutely are not going to Red River WMA in Concordia Parish.... without a doubt, doesn't exist any more. Boat works well and allows you to get behind some of the 4-wheeler'ers... IF it has rained recently or IF the river is up and they are keeping the locks closed. When the river is down, the locks are open, and they keep everything draining like they're allergic to water.

A comment titled: No, you aren't... in response to a report titled: Red river wma

Red river wma does not exist any more.

However you can go to the property and can access a lot of it in a Kia. There's a lot of rules, so grab a pamphlet and read up. Know it we'll, and keep it with you. Get the 'right' warden and you'll need the pamphlet and knowledge to educate them on the rules when they try to write you for some b.s.

Of course if you're not a local, you can do whatever you want.

A comment titled: Sure, why not...... in response to a report titled: Possible New Law?

Hell yes!!! Thank god they make me wear it. Really, since when should people have ANY personal responsibility??? Who goes to the lake for an enjoyable cruise to catch some sun..... Now we can have life jacket tan lines.

While they are at it, and we are allowing it, let's add some more:

Helmets anytime you're doing anything other than walking. After all, it'll be safer.

Fire and carbon monoxide alarm in your home, obviously subject to warrant free inspection whenever THEY deem fit.

All food purchases entered into a database per household to make sure you aren't consuming over the allocated healthy calorie intact for your home members, tracked through your census data and enforced by homeland security.

Rolling outages of cable/satellite coverage, so you can't watch too much tv.... THEY say it's unhealthy.

Rationed gasoline for your personal needs only. Fuel available for your commute, school, household needs + 15%. After all, just going out for a drive is one of the most dangerous things the average human does. THEY have to protect you from you.

Back to fishing, all fishing should be limited to interior waters no to exceed a depth of 80% of the tallest person on your boat. After all, do you really need to fish offshore??? Go catch some hard heads in 3' of water, it's SAFER!

All boats are restricted to a max speed of 25mph, there is no need to go that fast. Who are you to determine what speed you can safely manage.

Any other ideas????

Where does it stop???? Just pass a law that says you can't sue for not wearing safety gear and forget about it. People are going to die, accidents are going to happen. You can't regulate people into survival, but you can crush every sense of freedom they FEEL they have.

no, i'm not talking about a brake tag. I'm talking about a license plate. As i said, this has been going on for two years. I've been to 8 different DMV locations and talked to probably 50 different people that work for the dmv in louisiana and alabama.

Either you know something that ALL of them are unaware of regarding the regulations of each state or you're just making false of ignorant claims concerning tagging out of state boat trailers.

A comment titled: Nope in response to a report titled: La. boat trailer inspection

All states do not require tags, no idea on the rest. Alabama will NOT issue a tag for a boat trailer. Been fighting it for two years. Louisiana will not transfer the title and tag a trailer from another state without the original from the other state, and Alabama refuses to issue one. Bribing doesn't even work. Vn had a lady fom Louisiana motor vehicles on the phone with the Alabama motor vehicle office, she ended up hanging up n them and I'm stuck with no tag

I have an 09 xpress hd22, and love it. I always heard about it being a wet boat, but I have only gotten spray in my boat twice, and that was in 25mph winds going 25 mph. I can fish super skinny water. On days when we need to go shallow or a fat falling tide, my friends want to go n mine and leave their heavy fiberglass boats on the trailer.

I saw someone on he water on day in some chop in a 18' xpress and they were going 15mph and looked to be getting soaked, maybe 22' is the sweet spot to stay dry.

What can I do... well.... I have always donated from personal finances and from our corporate finances to both the Sheriff and Parish President reelection campaigns. That is over, and I will donate to anyone that runs against them from this point forward. I'll do whatever I can to replace someone that obviously thinks these are good ideas.

We've got enough problems headed our way from Washington. It'd be nice to have some common sense, non-intrusive government officials locally.

A comment titled: More waste and poor execution in response to a report titled: WBR = China... apparently

Where does the parish government get the power to infringe on my daily, law abiding business, to conduct a survey? Blocking traffic on the highway is no different than detaining you walking down the street. I can't go where i'm trying to go, and have not broken any law.

I just found the article on the advocate saying they are spending $460,000 to perform this study. WTF??? $460,000 of tax dollars to perform a study. $460,000 would go a long way in WBR school districts or just repairing the garbage roads that are already there.

I just don't understand who thinks these are good ideas.

GI, I was typing the same thing.

Even beyond our rights, it's completely ignorant for any enforcement agency to create a traffic problem over something as stupid as a survey. In this day and time, why not use Facebook, Mail, or put it on the ballot of the election that was LAST FREAKING WEEK!!!

Protect and SERVE. Who was served by doing this?? I guess they interpret the serve part as 'SELF SERVE'

I really hope people that don't understand this don't vote.
