I have been reading some post/comments on hard hit deer that drop then get-up never to be found.I've had that happen to me before so when I ran across a bow hunting article in august about"No-Man's Land" I looked it up again. It basicaly states that deer have a void within their body cavity located above the lungs and below the spine. It is an area that if struck by an arrow it wont bring the deer down.If the deer dosn't pick up an infection they will recover fully if hit in this gap.Maybe a difference with a bullet's hydrostatic shock. It can be as much as two inches tall toward the back of the lungs and narrower towards the front. It inspired the statement"shoot'em high, wave goodbye" Some believe that string-jumping is the main reason bow hunters strike this non-vital gap.I had it happen with a bullet also.Does anyone feel that this happend to you??
sweet!! wallhanger. I lost the cape on a mule deer by leaving it in an ice water chest too long. You gotta keep'em dry or they rot!!
Way to get your dad back in the woods DS7!!!! That's what it's all about man...He does look a little bloddied up HAHAHA!!Good Job!!!
way to make'em eat dirt!! keep it up.

gotta love the death kick of a good'ole heart shot..
awesome job on that one buddy!!!!!Keep it up!
Nice buck!! Nice tag.
I like the owl cry too. You can learn a lot from that deer. Watch where it retreats to when you spook it. The direction and such. That animal will know where you are now, but it's not leaving the area of it's home just because you invaded it's area. If it's a permanent stand your pegged. If a climber/portable don't go back in that same tree for awhile.Go scout out the area it came from and went to. learn that area. Take a climber and pick another tree not far from the stand you got busted on. 50yds to 80yds away and watch the same area but from another angle.enter from another direction if possible. You will see older deer stand and watch that tree/stand from another area and just stare at it checking it out for about 20 to 30 min sometimes they look up and down that tree you spooked'em from in heavy cover.I always thought you are training them during bow season for gun season.Try to trick'em and that's when you blast'em. good luck!!
hell yea!!! that's a nice buck!!! good luck!!
I't dosn't seem that hard to tag a deer!!Watch the video on the LDW&F WEBSITE. Get those airplane suitcase tags and put the tag in there like the guy shows you how to do it.I had a problem with the 36hr call but 72hrs aren't that bad. You will just have to go ride around till you get a cell signal. I don't like that part but it's the law!!!!!!!!!
it's called "working the food chain baby" I guess anything can make you an outlaw these days..let us know what you found out.I'd hate to get busted for guts & gore..
what happends at the camp stays at the camp..
