Capt Paul,

I just purchased the Port Sulphur edge file. Do you have a route to get to four bayou pass from port sulphur? Maybe from the end of Freeport canal? I have a 20 foot x 72 inch semi vee aluminum boat so I would rather a mostly protected route if possible. Thanks in advance.

Capt Paul,

I purchased the edge file for Empire / Buras. At the time I had a Magellan GPS and software. I now have Garmin's Mapsource software and apparently it won't work. Do you offer a conversion to make it work, or am I missing something. I would rather not manually enter all the points from the spreadsheet if I didn't have to.

Thanks for your help.

I have a question about mounting a trolling motor on a Blue Wave 180 classic. I'm not sure what the correct terminology is for it, but the fiberglass kind of rolls over at the top where the rub rail is. I think it may be called a rolled edge boat?? The problem is, where the trolling motor sits, two of the bolts will stick out underneath the boat in the cavity area. This is not a big deal, because all the rub rail bolts stick out as well, but I am afraid that the fiberglass will crack when you tighten a flat washer up against the curve of the cavity area underneath. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to mount it? Maybe there is something I'm missing here?

Anyone know how to contact Herman Solar? I took his saltwater class a few years ago and was interested to see if he was still teaching the freshwater class. The phone number I have says it does not accept incoming calls.

I was just wondering.....Why didn't someone clothesline the Carolina punter as he ran off the field (not during the play as it would have given Carolina a first down) after the shanked punt? The Saints would have gotten a personal foul penalty for 15 yards. Might it have been enough? I don't know but the punter sure deserved it for obviously shanking on purpose.

I know it wouldn't be right if Carolina "let" Drew break the record, but "the punt" was just plain dirty. I can see if they were playing strategy to win the game, but how could a short punt when you are barely ahead be a good strategy?

Does anyone on here know of someone who would dig a pond for the dirt in southern Livingston parish? I would like to get about a third to a half acre pond dug with an average depth of 10 to 12 feet. I would like to keep about 10 loads or so of clay for a house pad and they could keep the rest. If anyone knows someone who may be interested, send me an email. I am looking to do something pretty quick. Thanks.

I'm not sure how old this is, but check out this link to an online petition by the "non-hunters". I think they have about 50 signatures and some of those are hunters picking on them. LOL.

Is there anyone on here from 444 Hunting Club in Frost? I was just curious as to whether they might need any new members for the 2007-2008 season. Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I went hunting the other day and I killed a deer. I won't say when I killed it, though. I don't want to tip anyone off as to what season it was or what weapon I was hunting with. If I killed it with a bow, someone will say I should've used a rifle, or vice versa. I also won't say whether it was a doe or a buck, how big it was, how many points, etc. If I do, then there's sure to be someone on here saying that I should've let it walk for a trophy. I won't say what part of the country I was hunting in either. Some people may complain about any advantage I may have for being able to hunt where I do. I also won't say whether it was on public or leased land. Someone is sure to stir up the QDM debate and complain about deer management. I definately won't say whether there were dogs present. I shouldn't have to explain that one. I definately won't post any pics. Someone is sure to call Photoshop if I do that. Nope, that's all the information that I am willing to post. I shot a deer. Makes for a pretty boring report huh???

I have the ipilot 24V 70lb thrust. I do not have the foot control. Remote only. I just never liked a foot controlled trolling motor. In my opinion, it is worth every penny I spent on it. I have mine on a 20' tracker grizzly center console. It does take a little getting used to as far as navigating and anchoring but once you do, you'll never go back. As others also replied, I can control it from anywhere in the boat. I was anchored near a point with some pretty stiff winds. I would guess 15 to 20?? When I cancelled the anchor, the boat immediately started to drift and spin around quickly. My wife even made the comment that she didn't realize how well the motor was holding until we let go. That's coming from a woman who wasn't initially happy about a $1500 purchase for boat jewelry. I do not have the auto deploy so I can't comment on that. You mentioned positioning....once you get used to the motor, you won't need to keep repositioning it unless you are moving locations. You will figure out how to approach a spot so the motor doesn't spend as much time stabilizing the position. As far as the other features such as navigating to a waypoint or following a recorded route, I'm sure they will come in handy one day, but I have not used them as of yet. I strictly use it for the anchor function and normal trolling motor operations, and still believe its worth every penny. The recorded route function would probably work well trolling along the rocks as you mentioned. You would record the route (path and speed) and when you want, you can start the route over and it will follow the same route and speed as you recorded. Again, I have not experimented with this function so I can't give any feedback.

I don't think many people communicate on this site anymore. There have been numerous topics posted about the old forum format vs the new format. Being a member of this site since probably the early 2000's, there used to be a couple of replies (if not dozens) on pretty much each post. Now, consider yourself lucky that people even replied to your post. Is it because of the format? Maybe there aren't as many people that are members? Maybe people just don't want to talk. I don't know, but there is definitely a significant decline in communication since the early 2000's.

A comment titled: Mississippi River in response to a report titled: Quarantine Bay

Someone mentioned Riverside. Are you planning to Kayak across the Mississippi River? The Empire jetties is a pretty good run. Probably not a good idea in a kayak. If you launch at Joshua's, there is (or was...haven't been in a while) a lot of marshland just south where you can look for some reds. You can probably walk a short distance south on the levee and launch as well.

A comment titled: Grocery bags in response to a report titled: NFL Thinks they own the phrase "Who Dat"

Why do you think they went to plastic grocery bags instead of the paper ones. The NFL claimed that they owned the bags for people to put on their heads at the games. Now the grocery stores can't use them anymore. You have to buy the officially licensed baags from the NFL. LOL

A comment titled: Idiocracy in response to a report titled: No one bothered..

I agree with the earlier post about Idiocracy. At the end of the movie, it said that the two smart people got married and had three of the smartest kids in the world. The dumb couple got married as well and had 32 of the dumbest kids in the world.

A comment titled: guns in response to a report titled: Stolen property

As far as advertising the guns inside, I would do just that. Hang a note on the shed. It should read "You got one of my small guns that I keep in the shed since the gun cabinet in the house is full of bigger ones. Are you sure one of them is not pointed at you right now while you are trying to break into my shed again?" I think if he read that, he might not be back.

Is the magazine free? If it is, then with all the budget cuts being made right now, a magazine would be the least of my worries. I am not knocking the magazine because I have never read it, but I would rather them cut out a magazine than things like education.

A comment titled: Beretta in response to a report titled: Pistol

I would look for a Beretta 92FS in 9mm. I used to have one and traded it at a gun show for a baby eagle. As Obama would say, I acted stupidly. I am looking to get another one hopefully pretty soon. I like the fact that it has a hammer. I like to see what position it is in and be able to decock it by the hammer. This is just my opinion. Others may say that a hammerless is safer because it can't be bumped. I guess it all amounts to whatever you are more comfortable with.

I also had a card stolen out of my camera. It was someone in the club that didn't want me to know who he was. I had more human footprints under my feeder than animal tracks. Needless to say, I got out of that club. I can't stand when people don't respect your space.

I agree with you, but you know how people are when something is free and they don't have to clean up the mess. I believe there was a post a while back about people trashing the WMA's. It is the same is free and they don't have to clean up the mess.

A comment titled: maybe a limit in response to a report titled: Why

I know there is no way for the administrators to tell if an item is sold or not, but maybe they could put an ad limit. If there was, say a 3 ad limit, you could not post a 4th ad until you deleted one of the others. That would clear it up a bit.

I'm not sure if the term is still used on here because I haven't seen it in a while, but I believe that the guy is referred to as a potlicker.

I would say, take people you trust hunting. Also bring along a camera or cameraphone. If you catch someone "potlicking", take their picture and post 'em up in a report so everyone can see.

It is probably because they are trying to bump their post to the top. You used to be able to edit your post and it would go to the top automatically. Now you have to create a new post and delete the old one. The problem is, no one deletes the old one.

A comment titled: walking out in response to a report titled: Taken Away!!!

Don't get me wrong...I would never intentionally trespass on someone's property. But, if the day ever came where someone stopped me and forced me to leave me vehicle and walk out, that person would have bigger problems to face than trespassers. I WOULD NOT leave my vehicle anywhere and be forced to walk. To me that is considered carjacking. If you want to be successful at carjacking me, you better hope you can pull yours faster than I can. I do not like trespassers either, but the way to handle the situation would be to block the vehicle and wait for law enforcement to arrive. If I'm caught trespassing (not deliberately), then I will accept that and wait by my vehicle for the cops, but I can promise you that I will not walk away from it.
