New To Sportsman Network?

My lil brother was in Venice this past weekend duck hunting and with the wind and weather this morning (11/8/2015) they decided not to go hunting but he called and told me that the coast guard was out there looking for a boat, duck hunters I'm guessing, that supposedly sunk in the river. If this is true I hope everyone is ok and safe but did anyone hear anything about this or is it just a rumor?

I'm looking for a commerical grade fillet knife. I'm not so much worried about the price because I look at it as the knife will pay for itself with the amout of fillets I catch. This is what I got, I have a number of hoop nets and catch plenty catfish and the knives I bought in the past don't hold up. I tried the original mister twister and that lasted me about a year and I burnt up the motor in it, so then I got the salt water mister twister and that one is going on about a year and a half and the motor on it is starting to go out. I look at the rapala ones but I'm nervous about getting one cause it looks like the replacement blades are hard to find for it. If I have to I will just buy a mister twister every year or so but I was looking for a knife to last me about 3-5 years. I'm cleaning about 500 to 800 fish a year so I would really like to find a decent knife. Thanks.

I was wondering if anyone been doing any good with catching catfish in lac des allemands? I went last weekend and didn't catch a single fish and I wasn't the only one. Everyone I talked to didn't catch also. Hoping we get some warm weather soon and maybe that will help out.

I just got some hoop nets and I was wondering what do ya'll that run nets use for bait and if ya'll have any homemade recipes for making some kind of bait. Any and all help will be great. Thanks

So about a month ago I bought me a new lil 25 Mercury outboard so I can go mess around in the Bonnet Carre Spillway in the evening and catch some fish. Well I decided to take my family out in my new 'toy' and of course my lil shadow was in the boat as soon as she heard the word boat! Well my 2 year old lil girl 'LuLu' is just an outdoors woman already, last year durning teal season she was about 1 1/2 and she would run outside as soon as she heard the truck pull in the drive way and have to come see what we killed and then to my surprise she was holding 2 teal walking around like she killed them. Well, while we were making out trip just riding around looking for turtles and aligators LuLu turned to me and said 'I want to drive' so I proped her on my knee and she was captin! You just don't realize how fast they grow up and how much of an effect you have on them. I hope she carries this on through life and I want to teacher her that we really live in the greatest state there is which is 'Sportsman's Pardise'!

I was wondering if there is someone that does the bottom of a boat coating (Frog Spit, Steel Flex) is there any shops that does this or would I have to apply this myself? Any advice would be great and also let me know how ya'll feel about it, is it worth getting it done, does it really help, ect.? I want to put it on the bottom of my Go-Devil boat (16x38) and I'm running a 18hp long shaft.

Any of ya'll did any good in the PAC this past weekend? We made a hunt and left with one French hen, got buzzed by a few teal but really not a lot of ducks where we were, heard a lot of shooting. So I was just wondering if ya'll did better than we did cause we didn't even see a whole lot of ducks.

November 27, 2011 at 12:07pm

Got a quick 3 man limit Friday morning I came home and my 20 month old lil girl loves ducks she said 'dada hold duck' so I figured why not!! This is what's all about can't wait til I can take her!

So what's been the word with the fishing in cocodrie? I'm going out there this weekend and I hope I'll be able to get on the water with this weather coming and try my luck at the reds and specks. I know people been catching the reds but let me know if anyone been doing good at night and just fishing in general.

Best part about it is I'm sure they had quite a few people pull up the coordinates to my 'secert spot'.

This might be a good spot to shoot some differnt types of ducks. Went 2 weeks ago and saw mallards, teal, wooodies and some tree ducks. I would go during the week cause they had a good bit of people but I'm sure the weekend would have a good bit of people. 29.9207° N, 90.1302° W Good luck.

I love my 11-87. Shoots great, not very expensive, never had a jam up with high or low brass and the best part is cleaning it. Super easy to tear down clean and put back together. I have an older model and my brother has a new model which even though they are the exact same weight his newer model is better balanced. All the other brands are nice but some seem like a mutha to put back together after a cleaning.

A comment titled: Gator Tail in response to a report titled: gator tail 25 vs copper head 23

Both are great motors but if you can I would suggest you go with a gator tail 35, you won't be sorry. The 25 is still a good motor but the 35 would be a bettr choice if you ever wanted to get a biggger boat later on. Never been in a copper head but the reviews that people own them and they say they love them. Either choice would be good though.

A comment titled: I don't care for any of these shows in response to a report titled: NOW CASTING FOR HIT SERIES SWAMP PEOPLE

Look at how many people want a surface drive and became over night duck hunters because of duck dynasty. I do like the show but it's putting people in the woods and waters with no hunting/fishing knowledge and putting themself and others at risk. I mean look at the boat lauch during duck season now and tell me it's not true. I have no problem taking someone hunting or fishing and teaching them some ethics and that it's not just about catching and killing. They sky blast, set up 50' from you and just hail call all day. Now everyone wants to be a Troy Landry and catch gators and kill gators/.

7mm-SAUM I know you I stood in your lil cuz wedding back in January. I agree with you to a point about the classified section but they still have wrong people in there cause they will set up a place and time to meet up with you then don't meet up. They have other sites that make you have a post minuium before you can sell something which is how this site should be run, but of course I know nothing cause I'm just a citizen that don't know nothing. If they had thisit would keep a lot of scammers away why they don't have more then a few people patrolling this!? And I already know this will be deleted cause I posted how I felt about sea tow some I'm sure they are out to get me!

A comment titled: Capt. Christian in response to a report titled: Thank God for Sea Tow

I guess I kinda misunderstood this sea tow thing. I can understand if you run 'X' miles out to rigs and have problems out there where you might not see someone for days, then yea it wouldn't be a bad thing to have. I on the other hand don't fish rigs miles out so I don't feel a need for me to have this. I thought that these sea tow boats were just running small inland bays and small fresh water 'canals' looking for someone's 16' with a 25 to break down and just want to tow them back to the lauch for a crazy price.

A comment titled: Nothing to do with cheap in response to a report titled: Thank God for Sea Tow

I just thought that when someone is a so called sportsman it kinda set them out from an average Joe. I just look at it as if I can help someone I call it a good deed, or doing the right thing, or whatever you want to call it, but I guess times have changed cause if you can honestly pass someone in a time of need, I know I couldn't sleep at night wondering if they made it out OK or not and that is something I would have to live with on my mind. But why don't everyone tell me your name that thinks I'm crazy and if I see you broken down on the water, woods, road I can ask your name if that is you I can pass you up and your service can come take care of you since this world is totally different from what it used to be and since I'm cheap for not thinking a company like this should exist. But then again ya'll that pass people in need up or probably the same people with Salt Life stickers covering the back of your truck window and don't don't slow down for people fishing so you can see how big of a wake you can push on someone.

A comment titled: I'm glad you feel that way in response to a report titled: Thank God for Sea Tow

I don't feel it's stupidity if you refuse a tow cause from anyone that WANTS/EXPECTS you to pay them for a tow I feel it's UNSPORTSMANLIKE for anyone that expects money for helping a in need sportsman out. Like I said before I always offer money cause that person that did tow me in used his gas and time to help me out but I just know how me as a person and an avid sportsman I would not tell someone I just helped out that they have to pay me orI'm not gonna help you.

A comment titled: SEA TOW? in response to a report titled: Thank God for Sea Tow

Ok I'm not trying to start anything with this post but I have a question and I'm kinda confused with this sea tow thing. So, say I'm in my boat and I break down and I see a Sea Tow boat and flag it down, they come to me ask me if I'm ok and if I needed to be towed in (and in this case I do need a towed in, and I'm not a member) are you going to ask me if I want to pay? And if I don't want to pay (cause I think this Sea Tow is crazy) are you just gonna leave me stranded out there? I thought it is against the law to pass a broken down boat and not offer help, which Sea Tow did, but I refused cause you wanted to charge me. I have been towed in and I towed people in and I always offer the boat money but never asked for money just looked at it as I was doing the right thing. Don't know if I'm the only one that feels this way that's why I'm asking about this sea tow thing.

What about a post minimum like some other sites before you post in the classified? And also I think there should be away to give feedback as a buyer and seller because there are way many people that will just stand people up and not even try to contact them if plans get changed.

Yea I sent Yuns35 an e-mail asking about the 1911 and the response was that he came to LA for business and then the next day I got an e-mail saying he was about to catch a plane and leave for me to send the $700 and when he got the money he would send the gun to my FFL dealer, needless to say I didn't respond back because I just know that the gun would have been on the way to me once he got my money! Boutte, LA

Want to sell a 1999 Ford Expedition with the small V8 (4.6L), motor was replaced a few years ago. Can fit 8 people, 2 captain seats in the front and 2 full bench seats in the rear. The interior on the front seats if kind of busted up but other than that nothing is wrong with it. It is losing some fluid and I'm thinking it's a hose that has a leak, that's why the price is so cheap. The vehicle is located in LaPlace if you want to check it out. It currently has about 295,000 miles on it and it's just sitting up, has fairly new tires and new battery. Please e-mail me if you'd like to check it out. I will post some pics of it as soon as I can. Thanks.
