I gave up Hunting in Louisiana for Mississippi 4 years ago. I really enjoy it so much more. I love the restrictions because it gives my grandsons and I a lot of Young bucks to look at all the time. I saw 37 deer in one sitting last year and 16 were bucks. I would sit on my stand in Louisiana and just pray to see a yearling just to say I saw a deer. There were pleanty deer where I hunted they were just all nocturnal. Putting out 1000's of pounds of corn and running of dogs day in and day out all year make them only move at night. In Mississippi I see Deer all day long My favorite time to hunt is 8 to 1 in the day. I hunt acorn trees mostly and I see deer all day long. I shot one doe last year and it was because of my choosing not because it was the only deer I saw all year. My kids and grand kids kill enough for meat that I don't have too. I can just sit back and enjoy watchuing them. Mississippi people for the most part don't litter up the woods and trash there hunting spots but as soon as someone from Louisiana comes around trash gets left every where. I just don't Understand. I will hunt in Mississippi till I die.
I left the camp early that morning to get into my stand. It was pretty far back in the Honey Island Swamp . I was walking with my flashlight pointing at the ground so I wouldn't scare any Deer off.The water was about 4 inches deep so I was shuffling my feet so not to make noise. All of a sudden I here a scream coming from right in front of me. My hair stood up on my neck. I shined the flashlight at the noise but I could not see anything. I listened for any movement but all I could here was heavy breathing. I wanted to run but didn't know which way to go so I just stood there. After about a minute I could here something walking in the water. I looked every where but all I could see was ripples on the water. I was straining my eyes to see but could not make out anything. All of a sudden it screamed so load I almost fainted I shined the light over there and out walked Widow Maker from behind a tree.
Don't buy any other caliber for a kid. The 7mm 08 is low recoil and shooting the 140 grain accubond bullet it is devastating on a deer.
I shot a 120 lb doe this weekend with the two blade rage and she ran 50 yards and fell over dead. The entrance was huge and the exit was huge . Blind man could have followed blood trail. I was very impressed.
He should score in the high 180's
bobcat
I shoot a 460. Bullets are 5 dollars a pc but never have to trail one very far.Does a good job
I have shot many deer with my 7mm.I have shot fed 140 grain
ballistic tips until they came out with the ballistic tip accubond bullet in 140 grains. I shot 5 deer last year and every one of them from 80 yards to 334 yards all had exit holes. The one i shot at 334 yards had the biggest about 10" in diameter. This has been an extremely good round for me.The 140 grains shoot very flat.I have alot of shots at long range so I am alwys prepared to shoot any distance.Hope this helps you.
Thank you for the information
Just want to say thanks to Jeff and Dennis. They run the best
Guide service anywhere in Louisiana. They took very good care of our clients. Our clients were so pleased they want to book another trip already. They produced alot of fish on one of the worst days of the year to be fishing showing the great talent they have for the job they do.I would refer them to anyones clients if they want them to be treated as kings. The lodging and the food was outstanding also.
tell him to get in touch with us and we will gladly point him inthe right direction.
Katrina and Rita really devastated the fresh water fish in the Tickfaw and Tangipahoa Rivers. I have fished countless
hours on both of these rivers without a bite. Hopefully wildlife and fisheries will develop a restocking program for these areas. The rivers were becoming premiere bass fishing areas before the storms.
spoon man thank for the info
I shoot the 17 mach 2 . I have killed several hogs this year. I shot all of them between the eyes one inch up. Drops them in there tracks. You don't have to worry about them chasing you if you shoot them there.
