Today's Matrix Report from Started this am at the break of dawn. Ran across the lake in the dark thinking we would get an early start only to realize we were about the 20th boat out. Not really sure what's considered an early start anymore but never the less 'Jay Bird' and I slipped in where we could and started picking off solid trout one by one. The tide was falling just right but the water was stained. The bite was very subtle and hard to feel but they were most certainly biting to say the least. We grinded out a solid box waiting on the tide to swap and come in but never did. The incoming tide has been lights out this week but we came in early today instead of waiting it out. Not sure on the count today, don't think we managed a limit but it was close. Pure trout no by catch. No shrimp were harmed again as we used 'Limbo Slice' to put them on ice again today. Limbo had been the ticket all week!!! Make sure to book your charters Today at 985-707-9049 as the fishing is probably the best it has been yet this spring. No monsters today but solid 16' average up to about 2.5 lbs. One trick we used today was we tandem rigged a mini matrix with the Limbo slice when the bite slowed and it triggered about 15 more fish but also trigged a lot of throwbacks. May 10, 2016 at 9:35pm Today's report. Woke up at the crack this am in hopes of bringing my favorite fishing partner out for a quick trip in this beautiful weather we are finally getting but she opted to get her beauty sleep. So off for a solo trip it was. Right out the gate bam bam bam!!! 3 beautiful trout right at sun up then the armada arrived. Armed with #MatrixShad on #goldeneye jigs I couldn't find a gap big enough to work the trolling motor and was having trouble getting bites, so it was time to take a ride and try something off the wall and get away from the weekend traffic. Good move as the Reds were on the first shoreline I tried and I caught a quick limit of nice 20' reds with one kicker 6 pounder. Then before I went home I realized the tide had started coming in just right and a lot of the boats from this morning had moved off the trestle so I slipped back in where I could find some space and whamo! Good fish!!! Back to back fish for about 30 min then more boats came whizzing by. I had all the weekend excitement I could handle by then so back to the house early it was. Made it back in by 11am or so with a limit of reds and a box full of beautiful trout. Absolutely beautiful day on the water. I can see why everyone wanted to be out there today. Again No Shrimp Were harmed as all the fish were caught on 'Limbo Slice' Matrix Shad from Make sure to book your charters now. 985-707-9049

Spring time is a time of high winds and frequent fronts. Typically harsh SE winds blow good water in certain estuaries bringing in plenty bait fish with predators fish like the speckled trout to be waiting eagerly to eat up getting nutrients for the their spawning season. If you are going to wait around this time of year for perfect calm and sunny days, well let’s just say your not going to be fishing that often. I’m not saying go out there in gale force winds but avoiding the water because they are calling for 15-20 mph SE winds could be a mistake. During this time of year, hard easterly winds can create a stronger than normal incoming tide and a lot of times generate a more aggressive bite from the speckled trout. If you fish an area that is somewhat protected on an East or South East wind you should certainly be eager to fish under high SE winds. Most importantly boat traffic will be way down meaning the pressure on the fish will be at a minimum. When you get an over fished area to yourself great things can happen. Some of my best days ever have almost always been under extreme weather situations. Not only does it keep boat pressure off big trout it makes the big specks let their guard down. Our best days always seem to come on high wind situations. Usually a front is approaching, barometric pressures are dropping, and trophy trout begin to eat up as they feel a weather change coming. When you get these situations around the full moon of April, May or June you have to GET OUT THERE!!! Days of 10-15 five pound trout I have caught under these circumstances. Most recently an epic day was In June of 2012′ when Capt. Jonathan Allen, Kris Robert and I boated 5 six to seven pound trout in a row in the mist of a 25 mph South wind. We were about to leave after the third try of setting the anchor. Finally just before we all agreed this was our last anchor try it finally caught and we made our own historic fishing trip. We caught a 31 lb five fish speckled trout stringer. Just days after Capt. Kris put a client on a CCA Star fish that lead the board for two months on a day that was calling for 100 percent rain. Capt. Kris knew that not a boat would be out that day and he knew he had a shot to put some one on a legitimate boat winning fish and that is just what they did boating one 7lbs even in the month of June and lead the Star board the whole way just coming up short as they were beat by trophy trout legend Bob Weiss in the same spot.

To visually see some of the harsh weather situations we fish in looking for that next bite in hopes of catching the next one for the wall just check out some of our DockSide TV episodes especially our latest one we just aired this spring. Make sure to be safe out there but get in on the action. Every area has a wind direction that is horrible but the old saying you have to go to know could never be more accurate. Until next time “good fishing”

April 27, 2016 at 10:55pm Yesterday's report---What to do? West winds, blue bird skies, full moon, and a million boats fishing the bridges in the lake. Answer-enter the Sight Life!!! As Warren and I came out of the Marina yesterday we saw boats zipping by all over. It looked like they were giving something away in the Lake. I looked up and saw that it was going to be a blue bird day and a good one for sight fishing. I asked Warren you want to grind out speckled trout all day next to 10 million boats or see what the reds are up to and not see a boat all day, he went with option 2 and I was thrilled. We pointed the boat east and after a 20 min ride we were buried deep inside the marsh off the intercostal with not another boat in sight, ahh serenity, peace and reds, We found thick grass crystal clean water and floating reds right out the gate. Absolute beautiful day on the water picking off big reds all day on the 'Purple Haze' #vortexshad we had our limit by 11 or so and played catch and release till about noon. It was nice to get away from the crowds and enjoy louisiana's pure beauty. Book your charters now if you want reds we gotcha covered, trout covered. You name it #matrixcharters will chase it. 985-707-9049 and no shrimp were harmed.

April 24, 2016 at 6:17pm This past weekend for Matrix Shad was filled with trade shows from biloxi to New Orleans and talking fishing for countless hours instead of actually going fishing, so this week we dedicated the entire week to catching fish not talking about it. It was the week of the April's full moon and #DocksideTV was on a mission to put some #MatrixShad to work. 150 plus trout were caught this week on the Andros by the Matrix crew mostly on 'magneto' matrix Shad. #matrixcharters were also ran all week and they caught too many trout to count. Great week on the water Book your charters now the fishing is good 985-707-9049 or pick up some #MatrixShad #vortexshad #goldeneye jig heads and give it a try yourself. New Dockside TV episodes will air this week with plenty other raw clips from our great week at #DocksideTV

April 22, 2016 at 11:24am --- 9857079049 Wild conditions all week. From heavy boat traffic to high winds and as always dirty water. The #MatrixShad #vortexshad still prevailed some good catches. Last few days we have found some lingering big girls even though it's been a terrible spring for big trout so far. Nice to see a few good ones of late. We found a few solid females last few days hope they stick around. Come talk fishing all week at CHAG's tent sale and see some of these nice trout on ice. If you are looking for a Lake Pontchartrain report, well it’s the same ole story as every year in the spring. The trestle is extremely crowded, the river systems are extremely high, the wind is howling but the specks are biting. The annual run of specks is happening across all the bridges in Pontchartrain as usual but the trout have been way below average and trophies are far and few between. If you are wanting to read a fishing story from a different and unique area well this one is for you.

For several days this spring while shooting our most recent DockSide TV episode we fished far to the east armed with products from Matrix Shad. The species targeted on this trip was big trout, slot reds and flounder but we caught much more while fishing near the Flora-Bama line. If you are looking for a challenging but rewarding place this area is for you. A wonderful part about fishing this area is that on any given cast you can put either a trophy speckled trout on the wall or luck up and even land a gag grouper. The biggest issue is that the water is clean making the fish smart and finicky. When fishing the Panhandle for coastal species you have to make a stealthy approach and most importantly use fluorocarbon fishing line. The fluoro is a style of fishing line similar to mono-filament except that it becomes rather invisible in the water. The water is so clean on the Panhandle that having a line the fish have trouble seeing is by far the most crucial item in your tackle box.
When we fish the Panhandle area we like to throw the Matrix Mullet Top Water early in the morning over grass flats or shallow docks then as the sun comes up we seem to find success switching to the Shrimp Creole Matrix Shad on a 3/8oz and 1/2 oz Golden Eye Jig and focus on deep water structures such as bridges and underwater reefs. The best part about fishing waters as salty as these is that you never know what species is on the end of the line. While fishing near the Ono Island area this month we boated the following species on Matrix Shad products: red fish, speckled trout, flounder, white trout, pin fish, sheepshead, croaker, flounder and even a gag grouper. Surprisingly we caught all these species withing a half of mile from land while fishing inland waters near Perdido Bay and Wolf Bay. There is not many places where you can catch that many different species especially in an eighteen foot boat.
If you are looking to fill 120qt coolers this may not be the place for you as the limits are very low and reaching them are very challenging. If quality fish and beautiful scenery is what you are looking for than this area and style of fishing is right up your alley. To see DockSide TV episodes showing just how and where we fish near the Panhandle go to and “Until Next Time Good Fishing”

Here's our latest Dockside TV episode shot last week with captain Captain-Matt McCabe. The trick is to find deep protected water and avoided the spillway water at all cost. Capt. Matt and I set sail and grinder out a nice mess of trout in this episode using the 'Limbo Slice' Matrix Shad. Book your charters now the spillway has not stopped us.

Well what does the matrix shad crew do when fresh Mississippi River water has taken over Lake P like the plague and the weather forecast is calling for hail, tornadoes and heavy down pours. Well we go fishing anyway. We switched gears today and put up the Matrix Shad and picked up the Matrix Mini Then we ducked off as deep as we could and tucked off in the Pearl River to chase down the tastiest fish in the Nation, The Sacalait. After some great tips from our friend Brian at the launch we were picking off some nice slabs this afternoon before being run off from the first of the lighter bands of rain in front of the biggest front of the year. The Kryptonight Matrix Mini was money today fishing very stained river water. For all pan fisherman the #matrixmini is a must have in the box!!!!

A comment titled: Trout fishing in lake fading in response to a report titled: I'm keeping my day job - 5.31.15

All the DockSide Guides have moved east in search of saltier water. The spawn is in full swing and the trout need salt and the lake has very very little. 1.5 parts per thousand to be exact. We have turned to chasing reds in the marsh or rig hopping in lake borgne. Trout fishing is only going to get more difficult from here on in the lake. WE HAVE NO SALT!!!!! Redfishing is good this time of year and the lake borgne to the mississippi sound is good for trout. If the pearl would ever drop and the rigolets would get salt it would be good on LnN. We had a good week 3 weeks ago in the lake but that seemed to be end of our annual bridge run. We have been catching a few this week in corner of Twin Span and Hwy 11 due to a little deeper and swifter current. good luck hope this helps but the trestle run is best april 1st to may 15th

No prob mike
Everything I'm stating will also be stated on next dockside TV

We chose to fish deep in marsh off Mrgo from chalmette to Violet for two reasons trout in lake p been small and we needed deeper water to sight fish reds. Water is abnormally low right now and the ponds and canals off icw too skinny
So we ran further south to deeper areas to chase reds. Trout biting a little in lake but they have been 12-18' very small for lake and we wanted to mix it up. Make sure to watch video

Coming from a lake pontchartrain back ground of fishing we are used to tuff and hard fishing. Although Florida can be tuff I don't think it's from a lack of fish. They are simply more finicky there with the cleaner water and boat pressure. Ill take a few mule trout of a hundred dinks any day any way.

If anyone else is having problems with keeping them alive please call 985-707-9049

We have a gazillion tips that will help with die off ratio. We handle 3-10 thousand shrimp a day alive so we have many tips to help. Sorry to hear there was a problem but you need to let us know the day of so we can resolve problem. If you feel the need to continue to bash us on the web that is your choice but we would have been happy to resolve your problem the day of.

June 06, 2014 at 9:08pm

We keep shrimp alive about 200 days a year and have been for several years. At times they are hardier than other at times. I personally have been using them all week without a problem. If they are dying for you, feel free not to buy them and save them for the others who fish out of there everyday without an issue. If salintiies are down in the lake you need to keep the water on them that they come from. Do not run an open system!!! If they were alive and kicking when you received them how is it our fault if they die in your well? If they were sluggish and dead before you received them why did you purchase them? You could have easily handled this and we would have been happy to give money back. If you would like to discuss this further we will be there every day for next 365 days feel free to stop by.
